Job Description

Crane Aerospace and Electronics has an exciting opportunity for a Tool Cutter Grinder.

First Shift Hours are Monday-Friday, 5:30 AM to 2:00 PM. Overtime may adjust start time (e.g., 4:30 AM for extended overtime) and/or extend end time. Flexibility to work overtime and weekends as required.

The Tool Cutter Grinder performsprecision smoothing, sharpening, polishing, or grinding of metal objects.

Essential Functions:

  • Manufacture cuttingtools to a high quality finish

  • Perform inspectionof tooling throughout process

  • Run machine or job unassisted

  • Check part to print;Make normal machine adjustments

  • Change wheel/tooling as required

  • Achieve standard production/quality

  • Perform operator preventive maintenance andwork area and machine cleaning

  • Report down machines to supervisor

  • Perform all set-up operator criteria andproperly train others

  • Helpto developinstall new processes/methods

  • Troubleshootprocesses/procedures for better methods/actions

  • Maintain and adhere to all standard safety protocols (5S)

  • Any other task assigned by supervisor or management

Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience3+ yearsof relevant work experience

  • KnowledgeHighly knowledgeable in various grinding processes, materialsand precision measuring instrumentation;Understanding of geometry/trigonometry;Experience setting up/running toolandcutter grinders

  • Skills/AbilitiesAbility to read and interpret blue prints and manufacturing outlines;Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and inwriting;Ability to review area workloads, prioritize and assign to teammembers to support area;Be capable of running complete tools from solid carbide rod or high speed steel blanks;Proven ability to work with minimalsupervision and oversight under tight time constraints

  • EducationCertificationHigh School diploma or equivalent

  • Eligibility Requirement: This position may require access to Controlled Data or Information. Where the position requires such access only US Persons will be considered. As a US Department of Defense contractor, we are bound by International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge and training in statistical process control and total quality management

Working Conditions

  • Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment

  • Manufacturing operations may require the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to: eye safety glasses, gowning, masks, hearing protectors, heel/wrist straps and any other required PPE

  • May be exposed to unusual environmental conditions such as loud noises, cold temperatures, confined spaces, dust or fumes

  • Flexible and willing to work overtime if necessary

Hourly Range: $38.00 to $50.00. Several factors contribute to actual salary, including experience in a similar role or performing comparable job responsibilities, skills, training, and other qualifications. Some roles may be eligible for participation in performance-based bonus programs.
