Samsung Austin Semiconductor is seeking a high-performing, self-driven software engineer to support and improve the critical Tool Control (TC) host automation application. The TC system is the gateway for all communication between the fab equipment and the factory automation and quality applications.
This engineer will work in a development role within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. He or she will be required to provide excellent customer support to other engineering departments as well as work closely with team members and other engineers both on-site and remotely in South Korea. The applicant must be highly motivated, enjoy solving difficult problems, and work well with others.
Role and Responsibilities
Here’s What You’ll Be Responsible For:
Responsible for development, deployment, and maintenance of our semiconductor host automation software application.
Provide excellent customer support to fab engineering departments.
Troubleshoot user reported system issues and support user requests.
Trace and understand existing source code written by others
Find and consider external system dependencies when developing solutions.
Complete unit testing on all development prior to implementation.
Document development, testing, and release plans prior to implementation.
Review and validate peer development prior to implementation
Provide 24x7 on-call support for critical system escalations on a rotational basis.
Available for occasional conference calls with Corporate HQ counterparts outside of 8am-5pm hours.
Skills and Qualifications
Here's what you'll need:
BS or MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related discipline.
Minimum 3 years of experience in a software development or DevOps role.
Proficient in programming languages (C# .NET or Java SE required).
Semiconductor background with GEM-SECS knowledge preferred.
Excellent troubleshooting skills.
Excellent understanding of OOP and common software architectural patterns.
Experience with relational databases (Microsoft T-SQL or Oracle PL-SQL preferred).
Experience working in both Windows and Unix environments.
Comfortable reviewing and debugging another person’s code.
Motivated to improve existing processes through innovation and creative problem solving.
Works well both independently and in a team environment.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Experience working with source code repositories.
Familiarity with popular IDEs (Visual Studio, Eclipse, etc.)
Korean language skills are a plus but not required.
The current base salary range for this role is between $76,000 - $174,500. Individual base pay rates will depend on factors including duties, work location, education, skills, qualifications and experience. Total compensation for this position will include a competitive benefits package and may include participation in company incentive compensation programs, which are based on factors to include organizational and individual performance.
