This role in summary

This position builds the foundation for progression into a Tool and Die Apprenticeship. Under supervision of department lead or Journeyman, this position performs entry level Tool and Die Maker responsibilities, such as learning how to troubleshoot and repair dies, die components, and tooling used in the production process; interpret complex component drawings; produce parts to print tolerances; maintain dies, die components and tooling; install and adjust die and tooling as necessary. Personnel must comply with safety and work rules for the area they are working in, and follow all required safety practices.

Your responsibilities will include

Minimum requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Understanding of modern punch press principles
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with co-workers, lead personnel, and supervisors.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations with whole numbers and decimals; understand geometric functions and perform basic calculations; and perform trigonometry calculations as needed.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings

Preferred skills and experiences

  • Successful completion of the following: Blueprint Reading (606-111), Applied Math I & II (804-370; 804-371), and Precision Measuring (623-185) classes.
