Location: 1500 Market Street; some travel required throughout Philadelphia

The Tobacco Resistance Unit (TRU) Facilitator is a part-time position with Health Promotion Council of Southeastern Pennsylvania, PA.’s (HPC) Advocacy Institute. The Facilitator is responsible for planning, logistics, and facilitating the Advocacy Institute’s Real Talk: The Truth About Vaping (RTV) prevention workshop that educates school-aged youth on the dangers of vaping. The Facilitator will create engaging, inclusive, and trauma-informed learning environments while building meaningful partnerships with Philadelphia area schools and youth-serving partners.

This role extends beyond classroom facilitation and includes host site recruitment and engagement, program coordination, data collection and management, and ongoing content evaluation. The Facilitator will work closely with the Tobacco Prevention Senior Coordinator and the Philadelphia Department of Public Health to update workshop content, ensure the use of best practices, identify new audience demographics, and track vaping trends among school-aged youth.

In addition to facilitating RTV, the Facilitator will support the AI Program Assistant with social media content development.

Responsibilities:

• Recruit, schedule, and maintain relationships with Philadelphia middle and high schools, including School District of Philadelphia, independent, charter, and parochial schools and provide comprehensive overviews of HPC’s prevention and treatment offerings.
• Coordinate workshop logistics, including scheduling, materials preparation, participant communication, and site readiness.
• Foster safe, inclusive, and youth-centred learning environments that encourage participation and dialogue.
• Work with the Senior Coordinator to collect, manage, and submit TRU Group sign-ups and required program data to the TRU portal accurately and on time.
• Collaborate with the Senior Coordinator to monitor program quality, evaluate school administration feedback, and recommend workshop enhancements.
• Stay informed on emerging vaping products, youth tobacco-use trends, and evidence-based prevention practices to support continuous program improvement.
• Assist in identifying opportunities to reach new youth audiences and strengthen community partnerships.
• Represent HPC and the Advocacy Institute professionally at schools, community events, and partner meetings.
• Support the development of youth-focused social media content that reinforces tobacco prevention messaging and promotes program engagement.
• Maintain compliance with organizational policies, grant requirements, and other program activities as assigned.
• Participate in staff meetings, trainings, professional development, and other program activities as assigned.

Skills:

• Excellent facilitation and public speaking skills with the ability to engage diverse groups of middle and high school youth.
• Knowledge of positive youth development, trauma-informed practices, and culturally responsive facilitation.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships with schools, community organizations, and youth-serving partners.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines independently.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience collecting, organizing, and maintaining accurate program data.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workplace.
• Ability to adapt curriculum and facilitation techniques to meet the needs of diverse audiences.
• Demonstrated commitment to health equity, youth leadership, and community-based prevention.
• Experience creating social media or digital communications is preferred.

Experience:

• At least one year of delivering health education, prevention, youth development, or community-based programming.
• At least one year facilitating interactive workshops, trainings, or education sessions for adolescents or young adults.
• Experience coordinating program logistics, including scheduling, communication with partners, and event or workshop planning.
• Experience building and maintaining relationships with schools, community organizations, or other external partners.
• Experience collecting and maintaining program data and partner evaluations.
• Ability to travel throughout Philadelphia to facilitate workshops and attend meetings as needed.

Education Requirement:

• Associate's Degree in public health, health education, social work, human services or a related field.
