Under the supervision of Executive Health Director, perform routine and repetitive cleaning activities in clinic, buildings and assigned areas. Perform a variety of custodial duties in order to maintain the clinic and buildings in a neat, orderly, and sanitary condition meeting all accreditation standards. All Nimkee staff must adhere to mandated reporting laws.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Select cleaning materials and supplies and prepare solutions according to procedure and/or manufacturer’s recommendations.
- Clean, disinfect, and sanitize restrooms, exam rooms, lobbies, break rooms, office and general areas, office furnishings, equipment, floors, windows, walls, and other items within assigned work areas through such actions as dusting, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, waxing, polishing, dusting, wiping, scrubbing, steaming, washing and rinsing.
- Dispose of bio hazard containers according to established policies and protocols.
- Collect and properly disposes of trash and other miscellaneous debris.
- Maintain the care and use of supplies, equipment, etc.
- Maintain the appearance of custodial areas; perform regular inspection of Nimkee Facility for sanitation, order, safety and proper performance of assigned duties.
- Ensure cleaning and maintenance supplies are stocked.
- Ensure heating and cooling systems are operational.
- Maintain awareness of safety protocols to prevent falls, burns from equipment, odors, etc., throughout the workday.
- Perform minor and general repairs such as replacing light fixtures, unclogging pipes, repairing drywall, painting, and repairing doors and other building fixtures. May perform carpentry work.
- Perform limited grounds maintenance such as salting and cleaning snow from sidewalks.
- Notify management concerning major repairs needed. Submit SCIT maintenance requests and track completion of requests.
- Report equipment malfunctions, unsafe condition or situations, or items requiring maintenance.
- Abide by all safety regulations.
- Attend all trainings/meetings related to the position as required by management.
- Department specific duties and responsibilities will be discussed and assigned by the immediate supervisor.
- Provide quarterly report for Health Administration.
- Maintain SDS book for all chemicals in Nimkee Clinic.
- Adhere to patient confidentiality and comply with clinic policies and federal regulations under the Privacy rules of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
- Provide excellent customer service for all internal and external customers of the operations at all times. Provide solutions for customer concerns and continually focus on customer service as our top priority.
- Must maintain strict confidentiality and present a positive, professional demeanor and image at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be 18 years of age.
- Must be able to pass background check to meet the employment eligibility requirements as they pertain to the position.
- One year custodial or maintenance experience.
Desired Qualifications:
- Previous custodial and maintenance experience in a clinical institution.
- Tribal Driver’s License.
License, Certification, or Special Requirements:
- Ability to obtain HIPAA Certification, Blood Borne Pathogens Certification, and Safety Training within thirty days of hire.
- Native American preference shall apply to all positions.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of occupational hazards and applicable safety practices.
- Skill in the use of cleaning tools, chemicals, cleaners, and disinfectants.
- Ability to seek out new methods and principles and willing to incorporate them into custodial practices.
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions concerning the mixture of cleaning compounds and cleaning liquids.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to establish and maintain professional relationships with individuals of varying social and cultural backgrounds and with co-workers at all levels.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
Physical Demands:
- Frequent use of hands, wrists, fingers associated with computer equipment.
- Required to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
- Occasionally required to reach with hands and arms.
- Normal visual acuity, ability to talk and hear.
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Work Environment:
- Normal office environment and medical clinic.
- Potential risk of exposure to bodily fluids such as blood and saliva and/or the potential for needle sticks and/or skin puncture.
- Latex may be used in the office which can produce allergic reactions.
- Potential contact with chemicals and/or cleaning reagents utilized within the clinic.
- Exposure to unpleasant odors, radiation, blood-borne pathogens, hazardous material and infectious disease.
- Situations occur where surgical masks, safety goggles, gloves and protective face shields are needed.
- Extended hours and irregular shifts may be required.
