Our paid time off accruals for annual and sick leave are as followed: 0-3 years of service = 2 hours of annual & sick per 40 hours worked; 3-9 years of service = 3 hours of annual & sick per 40 hours worked; 10 years or more of service = 4 hours of annual & sick per 40 hours worked. Plus you get 16 hours of personal time per calendar year (prorated based on your start date, resets every Jan.1). We also have Bereavement, Longevity, Fitness, and maternity/paternity leave.

Under the supervision of Human Resources Manager, responsible for the accurate and timely distribution of all inter-office, U.S. or other commercial mail being distributed to the SCIT entities. Ensure all outgoing U.S. mail has accurate postage.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Stamp date and time receipt on incoming mail.
  • Sort mail according to department, destination and type.
  • Research mail with missing and/or incomplete components to determine appropriate routing.
  • Stamp outgoing mail and examine for appearance.
  • Distribute and collect inter-office mail.
  • Deliver mail according to location along routes via motor vehicle.
  • Weigh outgoing U.S. mail to determine correct postage.
  • Keeps records of registered mail.
  • Maintain mailing machine, ensuring proper service calls and maintenance.
  • Maintain adequate supplies for mailroom.
  • Ensure bulk mailings are processed in accordance with deadline(s).
  • Adhere to random quarterly mail count and submit results to Human Resources Director.
  • Provide excellent customer service for all internal and external customers of the operations at all times. Provide solutions for customer concerns and continually focus on customer service as our top priority.
  • Must maintain strict confidentiality and present a positive, professional demeanor and image at all times.

Contacts/Purpose of Contacts:

  • Contact with all departments of SCIT entities in daily mail delivery.
  • Contact with U.S. mail and other commercial mail distributors.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must be able to pass background check to meet the employment eligibility requirements as they pertain to the position.


Desired Qualifications:

  • Office experience.


License, Certification, or Special Requirements:

  • Must have a valid State of Michigan Driver`s License with the proper designation required for the vehicle utilized to perform the job duties; must be able to obtain and maintain a Tribal Driver`s License and qualify for coverage by SCIT auto liability insurance carrier.
  • Native American preference shall apply to all positions.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of postal supplies and equipment preferred.
  • Knowledge of bulk mailing process, procedures and technology preferred.
  • Ability to sort & distribute mail and operate postage equipment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to work a varied schedule.
  • Ability to interact and maintain good working relationships with individuals of varying social and cultural backgrounds.
  • Ability to communicate efficiently and effectively both verbally and in writing.


Physical Demands:

  • Frequent use of hands, wrists, fingers associated with computer equipment.
  • Required to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
  • Frequently required to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
  • Frequently required to reach with arms and hands.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.


Work Environment:

  • Frequently subject to changing weather patterns going from cold to office environment daily.
  • Extended hours and irregular shifts may be required.
