Our History
Huey’s has served up Blues, Brews & Burgers in the Mid-South for more than 50 years. Originally opening its doors in Midtown in 1970, this family-owned restaurant is best known for being voted the Best Burger in Memphis since 1984. For more than 30 years, longtime owner Thomas Boggs poured his heart and soul into Huey’s, building a legacy that is carried on by his children today.
Huey’s is a local, family-owned restaurant with a fun, flexible, laid-back atmosphere that allows employees to express their own personalities at work.

A Memphis tradition since 1970, Huey's Restaurants is home to the award-winning "World Famous Huey Burger," voted "Best Burger" by Memphis Magazine every year since 1984. While founded by Alan Gary, the restaurant's modern legacy was truly built by the late Thomas Boggs, who joined in 1976 and transformed the casual bar into a beloved local chain. He was the driving force behind the company's expansion, its reputation for live blues music, and its iconic graffiti walls.
More than a restaurateur, Boggs's vision was to make Huey's a pillar of the community. He established the core philosophy that the company still operates by: "You have to take care of people and the community, and they will, in turn, take care of you." This commitment to giving back, a hallmark of the company for decades, is a direct result of his leadership and passion for Memphis.
As an employer, Huey's is dedicated to its team, offering a supportive and family-like culture. Many employees have worked for the company for over a decade, a testament to the positive work environment, competitive benefits, and opportunities for growth. Huey's focuses on fostering a place where people enjoy their work and feel valued as part of the team.
