Under the supervision of Applications Analyst, provide advanced software support, installation, and configuration for all core applications utilized by the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribal Government Operations and Business Enterprises.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide advanced support in complex troubleshooting of all desktop operating systems, office suites, client and server applications, and the connectivity to such client and server applications.
- Provide Layer 1 and Layer 2 troubleshooting of technical systems.
- Assist with the needs analysis of various departments and practice groups and develop automation recommendations, particularly, vendor-supplied applications.
- Assist in evaluating, integrating and testing new software and upgrading existing software into the production environment.
- Assist in the development of subject matter expertise on assigned core applications, including product analysis, configuration, testing, integration and implementation of application from beta to production.
- Maintain a basic knowledge of all hardware and software applications.
- Proactively search for and resolve potential risks, weaknesses and possible problem areas across the tribal application systems.
- Read, analyze, and interpret technical and general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures and regulations.
- Work with the infrastructure/systems employees to test applications and their network compatibility.
- Work with Support Services personnel as part of escalation process for issue resolution.
- Participate in special projects as assigned.
- Adhere to employee confidentiality and comply with department policies and federal regulations under the Privacy rules of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
- Provide excellent customer service for all internal and external customers of the operations at all times. Provide solutions for customer concerns and continually focus on customer service as our top priority.

Contacts/Purpose of Contacts:
- Contact and interface daily with end users. Contact made by this position, both internal and external of the tribe, are primarily for problem solving, application and licensing procurement, scheduling of meetings and updates to applications/warranties.
- Contact with third party sales, technical support, engineers, consultants, and analysts.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor`s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
- One year experience in IT.
- An equivalent combination of education and directly related experience may be considered.
- Experience with ODBC connectivity, relational database, server hardware and connectivity.
- Experience with Windows Server and Desktop OS, Linux, UNIX, Disaster Recovery software and hardware.
- Must be able to work various shifts in a 24/7 operation.
- Must pass IT related competency exam.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a gaming license to meet the employment eligibility requirements as they pertain to the position.
License, Certification, or Special Requirements:
- HIPAA certification must be completed within 30 days of hire.
- Must have a valid Michigan Driver`s License and must be able to obtain and maintain a Tribal Driver`s License and qualify for coverage by SCIT auto liability insurance carrier.
- Native American preference shall apply to all positions.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of applicable federal, state, tribal laws, regulations and requirements.
- Knowledge of MIS and IT concepts, principles, and practices; computer operations and user environments; and enterprise applications.
- Knowledge of federal copyright laws as they pertain to the use of computer software.
- Knowledge of current technological developments/trends in area of expertise.
- Skill in the use of computers, preferably in a PC, Windows-based operating environment.
- Skill in analyzing problems, projecting consequences, identifying solutions, and implementing recommendations.
- Ability to work through busy and stressful situations.
- Ability to plan, implement, test, and troubleshoot system applications.
- Ability to design, develop, and implement integrated software systems solutions to organizational requirements.
- Ability to develop and write systems and applications documentation and guides for users.

- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

Physical Demands:
- Frequent use of hands, wrists, fingers associated with computer equipment.
- Required to sit for extended periods of time.
- Occasionally required to stand and walk and reach with arms and hands.
- Required to climb ladders, access high and low ceilings, attics, crawl spaces and crawl below desks, server and network equipment racks.
- Required to squeeze hands and body into confined spaces.
- Normal visual acuity, ability to talk and hear.
- Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
