About this job:

A teacher who, as a member of the Instructional Leadership Team, plays a critical role in helping a school reach their student achievement goals. Spends part of the day providing high-quality instruction in own classroom as a teacher and part of the day developing a team of teachers’ ability to deliver joyful, rigorous, and personalized instruction that leads to high academic achievement. Serves as a content area expert, facilitates collaborative team time, provides 1-on-1 observation and coaching to peers, and facilitates the end-to-end Leading Effective Academic Practice (LEAP) growth and performance evaluation for each teacher on the team. Contributes to the year-long professional development plan and provides whole staff professional learning (when relevant) in area(s) of expertise. Collaborates with school leaders and team specialists to align teacher supports to advancement of school-wide instructional priorities.

Expected Outcomes include building the instructional capacity of a team of teachers and developing a team culture of continuous learning that maximizes staff and student morale and performance. Creates distributive leadership structures in schools in collaboration with school leaders and increases opportunities for feedback and growth from content experts to drive increased student achievement while building own capacity as a leader.

Stipend:

Receives a stipend paid in 20 installments from September - July.

An individual who holds this Senior Team Lead position will receive an additional $5,500 annual stipend on top of their teacher salary. Salaries for the 2026–2027 school year are typically finalized and released mid-summer, with an effective date of August 1. If any updates or adjustments are made once the new salary schedule is finalized, all impacted individuals will receive the updated salary.

What You'll Do:

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel and Outlook and/or Google Suite.

  • May participate in extra-duty activities such as coaching, tutoring, or summer programs, as outlined in the Teachers’ Collective Bargaining Agreement and in accordance with Department of Labor regulations.

What You’ll Need:

  • Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field required.
  • A Master's Degree is only required for Concurrent Enrollment positions.
  • Have a valid Colorado Department of Education (CDE) teaching license. Click here for additional information regarding specific requirements and qualifications for the various subject areas ( DPS does accept a CDE Application Receipt for 90 days)
  • ELA-S (English Language Acquisition - Spanish) ONLY
    • Teaching in both Spanish and English positions, candidates are required to take the Spanish language proficiency (SLP) exam, proctored by Berlitz Testing. Click here for more information. Additionally, if a teacher has taken, or chooses to take, the Praxis II - Spanish: World Language 5195 exam, it will also work at DPS as an appropriate SLP exam, as long as the candidate scores 163 or higher on the Praxis II (#5195) exam.
  • ELA-S ONLY: Must be Bilingual in Spanish and English Required.
  • At least two (2) years of demonstrated teacher effectiveness through effective or equivalent end-of-year ratings through the LEAP growth and performance system, or a comparable, multiple measure, growth and performance system.
  • Demonstrate essential skills for this role outlined in the Teacher Leader Scope and Sequence
  • Lead for racial and educational excellence and work to dismantle systems of oppression and inequity in our community, along with believing in and supporting all students so they feel seen and heard with access to high quality education.
  • Live and work with a permanent home address in Colorado while working with us.
  • Have the ability with or without accommodations to meet the physical demands of the position.
