Job Description

The Title VI & Title IX Coordinator is responsible for overseeing institutional compliance with Title VI and Title IX of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, as well as related State and Federal laws. Serving as the primary contact for discrimination, harassment, and sexual misconduct, this role ensures equitable educational access and a safe, inclusive environment for all students, faculty, and staff. The coordinator leads prevention education and training to clarify rights and responsibilities under the law, manages complaint and investigation processes to ensure timely resolution, and collaborates across the institution to address systemic Title VI and Title IX issues.

Duties and

Compliance & Program Oversight

• Serve as the institution’s central coordinator for compliance with Title VI and Title IX, including applicable federal and state laws and regulations.
• Develop, implement, and oversee policies, procedures, and programs addressing discrimination and harassment on the basis of sex and other sexual misconduct.
• Develop, implement, and oversee policies, procedures, and programs addressing discrimination and harassment based on race, color, ethnicity, or national origin.
• Track, analyze and report data related to complaints, compliance and programming.

Education & Training

• Design and deliver educational programs for students, faculty, and staff on rights, responsibilities, reporting processes, and prevention of discrimination and harassment.
• Ensure annual training and notification of institutional policies and procedures for all campus constituents.

Complaint Intake & Response

• Serve as the primary point of contact for receiving reports of sex-based discrimination and, harassment, and sexual misconduct, as well as discrimination and harassment based on race, color, ethnicity, or national origin.
• Serve as a Campus Security Authority under the Clery Act to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
• Provide supportive measures for individuals involved in complaints.
• Inform complainants of their rights, institutional policies, and available resolution options.

Investigations & Resolution

• Coordinate and oversee investigations and adjudication processes for Title VI and Title IX complaints.
• Ensure fair, prompt, and impartial resolution consistent with legal requirements.
• The Title IX and VI Coordinator will collaborate with the Human Resources, Legal and academic programs to implement programming, ensure compliance and assist in the timely resolution of complaints.
• Provide appropriate levels of feedback to the reporter(s) about the process and outcome of the investigation, while protecting the confidentiality of the accused.
• Work to ensure that there are no retaliation or other negative impacts on the reporter.

Campus Collaboration & Systems Improvement

• Partner with campus leadership and compliance units to address systemic issues and improve institutional response processes related to discrimination and harassment related to Title VI and IX.
• Recommend updates to policies and procedures based on trends, legal updates, and best practices related to Title VI and IX.

Communication & External Coordination

• Coordinate with campus security and advocacy organizations to ensure appropriate support and timely response.
• Communicate required policy notices and compliance information across the institution annually.

Recordkeeping & Reporting

• Maintain accurate records of reports, investigations, resolutions, and training activities in compliance with federal and state requirements.

Additional Responsibilities

• Engage with professional networks to remain current on best practices.
• Stay abreast of the federal, state and institutional compliance requirements and changes to the laws governing these areas,
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
• BA/BS preferred, or combination of applicable job experience (research background strongly preferred) and education
• 2 years minimum of clinical research experience; prior experience working with sponsors, FDA, consortiums, etc., a plus.

Preferred:

• Prior experience with Title IX in a similar academic setting

• Ability to develop policies, training programs, and institutional strategies.
• Monitor changes in Title IX regulations, guidance, and relevant legal developments and assess their impact on institutional policies, procedures, practices, and training requirements.
