SALARY: $35.00 per hour

TITLE: Title I After-School Tutor

REPORTS TO: The person employed as a Title I After-School Tutor will work with the Building Principal and Central Office Administration

JOB GOAL: Increase student mastery

QUALIFICATIONS

The person recommended as the After-School Enrichment will be selected based upon the following criteria.

• Valid West Virginia Teaching Certificate with an endorsement in grades 5-12 (preferred).
• Successful completion of the interview process.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION:

The duties and responsibilities of the After-School Tutor will be to:

• Provide academic support to students for homework and test preparation.
• Create an environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
• Prepare for instruction and keep accurate records of student participation.
• Encourage students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
• Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals. In harmony with the goals, establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects, and communicate these objectives to students.
• Employ a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided and the needs and capabilities of the individual or student groups involved.
• Maintain accurate, complete and correct records as required by law, county policy, and administrative regulation.
• Assist the administration in implementing all policies and/or rules governing student life and conduct, and, for the classroom, develop reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure, and maintain order in the classroom in a fair and just manner.
• Maintain professional competence through professional development activities provided by Ohio County Schools.
• Foster a classroom climate conducive to learning.
• Utilize instructional management systems which increase student learning and maximize time on task.
• Monitor student progress towards learning objectives, maintain records, report data to Attendance Director.
• Promote and maintain positive pupil-teacher-parent relationships.
• Maintain professional work habits.
• Perform other duties assigned by the Building Principal and Central Office Administrators

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: $35 an hour Not to Exceed $2000/year
