Job Description

Honolulu's newest sports bar & grill is seeking a skilled and passionate Sushi Chef to join our team.

Nestled in the heart of Kakaako, Honolulu's most vibrant neighborhood, our restaurant has a unique concept, customers visit not only to relax with friends or watch live sports, but also to enjoy an omakase dinner at the sushi bar.

Responsibilities:

As a Sushi Chef, you'll stand behind the counter, crafting high-quality sushi while interacting with customers. Responsibilities include all culinary tasks such as prep work, cooking, and plating, as well as management duties like inventory control and maintaining kitchen sanitation.

  • Maintain kitchen sanitation and safety standards
  • Ensure ingredient quality and freshness
  • Handle all prep work and cooking
  • Monitor inventory levels and order supplies as needed
  • Train and supervise assistant sushi chefs
  • Collaborate with kitchen and front-of-house staff to ensure smooth and efficient operations

Employment Type: Full-time

Work Location: Honolulu, Hawaii

Hours: 40 hours per week (shift schedule including weekends and holidays)

Overtime: Generally, none

Pay and Benefits:

  • Compensation: $16-$22 per hour + tips (approx.10-20%)

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience as a Japanese cuisine or Sushi Chef
  • Proficient knife skills for precise cutting and slicing of ingredients
  • Knowledge and practical experience in food hygiene and safety management
  • In-depth knowledge of sushi preparation techniques and Japanese cuisine preferred
  • Ability to perform well in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent customer service skills and etiquette
  • Valid Hawaii Food Handlers Card
  • Must have a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent
