The job of TIMPANOGOS PRINTING SERVICES LEAD is done for the purpose/s of leading the Timpanogos Printing Services operations; working with the Purchasing Department directors on all printing services budgets and operations; managing print services employees, summer employees, and student workers; providing information to all district sites and serving as a resource to others; achieving defined objectives by planning, evaluating, developing, implementing and maintaining all services in compliance with established guidelines; administering the Print Shop Pro software that streamlines all ordering aspects within the department; and performing routine and minor maintenance on high-speed production printers and department equipment.
This Job reports to the Director of Purchasing & Assistant Director of Purchasing.
The start date will be July 1, 2027.

Essential Functions

  • Assists administrators, faculty, staff, parents, students, etc. with the design and production requirements for duplicating jobs (e.g. recommend paper, review layout, evaluate costs, etc.) for the purpose of meeting requested needs in the most cost-effective and efficient manner that addresses work product specifications.
  • Administrator over Print Shop Pro Software (e.g. approving all users after the registration process, assigning all requests to the correct technician, verifying that all chargeback data coming through the software is correct for the specific site, providing support to all users district-wide, changing location and status of employees when transferring or terminating employment etc.) with the purpose for the software to run at its full capacity.
  • Calculates resource requirements (e.g. preparation, production time, labor and material costs, bidding, quoting, etc.) for the purpose of itemizing printing costs and establishing workload priorities.
  • Maintains printing machines, high-speed digital copiers, related finishing equipment, tools, supplies, and work area for the purpose of ensuring a safe work environment and the availability of equipment and supplies required to complete work requests.
  • Maintains work production records in both manual and electronic formats (e.g. charges, reorder specifications, work orders, internal billing, spreadsheets, etc.) for the purpose of projecting ongoing supply requirements and ensuring the accuracy of departmental billing.
  • Manages all facets of department budget (e.g. costs of materials and supplies, bidding of print jobs, setting/reviewing pricing on services offered by department, payment of bills, cost and tracking of department ordering and inventory and purchase, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring fiscal responsibility while offering/maintaining services to all district sites and locations.
  • Oversees all aspects of managing the department (e.g. postal accounts, machine service contracts with vendors, compilation and routing of mass mailings for district, internal accounting of department, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring quality of products and services offered by Printing Services.
  • Performs preventive maintenance and minor repair of printing, duplication, and support equipment as well as coordinating outside repair and maintenance services (e.g. hydraulic blades, paper paths, bindery equipment, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring availability of equipment in good working condition.
  • Performs personnel administrative functions for the printing services department (e.g. screening, interviewing, scheduling, recommending employment actions, training, supervising, evaluating, approving payroll, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining necessary staffing including annual hiring of summer crew, enhancing productivity of staff, and ensuring necessary department/program outcomes are achieved.
  • Prepares jobs for duplication (e.g., sets up in electronic library, scans documents, reviews format and modifies as required, assigns account to job, etc.) for the purpose of processing job in accordance with specifications and required delivery date.
  • Prints a wide variety of forms, catalogs, brochures, documents, wide format posters and latex banners (e.g. multicolor reports, announcements, graduation programs, forms, letterhead, fliers, pamphlets, booklets, etc.) for the purpose of providing materials needed by school personnel for instruction, conferences, special events, public relations, and/or meetings.
  • Process a variety of administrative documents either manually or electronically (e.g. bank deposits, purchase orders, requisitions, duplication charges, invoices, etc.) for the purpose of addressing administrative and/or financial requirements related to print shop operations.
  • Promotes print shop services to maximize duplication services and ensure the most cost-effective duplicating processes for instructional and administrative materials required by the district.
  • Researches equipment, software, and supplies used in the printing processes (e.g. graphic design software, digital color copiers, power cutters and folders, offset presses, feeders, perforators, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining knowledge of the current trends in printing industry equipment, specifications, and the most cost-effective processes that can be applied to the district's operations.
  • Responds to inquiries from staff, student groups, PTA groups, equipment, supply and service vendors, etc. (e.g. administrative secretaries, department heads, etc.) for the purpose of providing general information, direction, and/or status of print orders.
  • Reviews materials submitted for duplication (e.g. spelling, layout, paper-request, etc.) for the purpose of correcting errors, avoiding unnecessary expenses, and meeting requesters' needs.
  • Reviews completed jobs for the purpose of ensuring work meets requested specifications, quality standards, and quantity requirements.
  • Schedules requests for duplicating services received from school site staff (e.g. bulletins, newsletters, booklets, and special requests, etc.) for the purpose of completing orders by requested completion dates.

functioning of the work unit.

units is often required to perform the job's functions. There is a continual opportunity to have some impact on the

Work Environment
The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands:
significant lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling and
significant fine finger dexterity. Generally, the job requires 30% sitting, 30% walking, 40% standing. The job is
performed under conditions with exposure to risk of injury and/or illness and in a clean atmosphere.
