Mission

Be a part of the Riverboats at the Gateway Arch team by working as a cashier in ticket sales, the Riverboat Gift Shop, or concession sales! As a Riverboat cashier you will get to experience participating in daily sightseeing cruises and specialty cruises up and down the Mississippi River! Please see below for additional information regarding position expectations, skills, and requirements.

Expectations

  • Always have a positive, friendly, and approachable demeanor while having fun!
  • Continually exceed guests’ expectations by always having a guest first attitude.
  • Be prompt and accountable when you are scheduled to work.
  • Follow the dress code by wearing your uniform.
  • Maintain an alert, professional appearance even when not actively engaged in guest transactions
  • Possess a friendly and guest service attitude while selling event tickets, working in the gift shop, and operating the riverboat concessions
  • Maintain a clean and organized work station
  • Ensure work location remains fully stocked throughout shift.
  • Assist with stocking and restocking supplies as necessary in the gift shop, dry storage, coolers, etc.
  • Engage incoming and departing guests in a warm, genuine and friendly manner, answer guest inquiry line, provide directions, and help maintain cleanliness and organization of dock when working as a greeter.
  • Perform side work duties such as setting up dining area on boat, refilling condiments, rolling silverware, cleaning dock, replenishing concessions, and cleaning menus.
  • Maintain knowledge of pricing, menu items, and general cruise information.
  • Monitor and work to achieve daily, weekly, and monthly sales goals at all Points of Sale.
  • Act as runner on dinner and specialty cruises when necessary..

Requirements

  • Must be at least 16 years of age.
  • Must pass drug and alcohol screening (to include THC).
  • Must pass background check.
  • Must pass math proficiency questionnaire (located on employee application).
  • Willing to work on a moving vessel in water and outdoors (hot and cold environments)..

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Exceptional guest service skills
  • Proper cash handling and credit card skills
  • Ability to learn ticketing computer and cash register
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to learn pricing, menu items, and general cruise information
  • Able to carry/lift up to 50lbs
  • Able to work in a standing position for 3 continuously and up to 9 hours per day
  • Ability to continuously carry trays/plates up and down stairs
  • Able to bend and stoop
