The Thrive Educator will work with the Counseling Center to develop and implement educational and awareness programming focused on mental health, substance abuse, sexual assault and other topics relevant to the Counseling Center.
Responsibilities
Thrive duties include developing and giving presentations, workshops and outreach programming alongside the Counseling Center, staffing tables at various events across campus, writing articles, planning events and tracking the number of people reached through awareness programming.
Minimum Qualifications
For this position, the ideal candidate will believe strongly in eliminating the stigma around mental illness and will be comfortable speaking to others about mental health and other topics relevant to the Counseling Center. Strong public speaking skills are required as well as excellent communication (verbal and written) skills. Reliability, punctuality and the ability to follow through with responsibilities with little direct supervision are required. Additionally, students must maintain a 2.7 GPA and be free of any conduct violations to be eligible for this position. Preference will be given to students in related majors (psychology, political science, marketing, etc.) but all majors accepted. Preference will also be given to those with practicum, internship, or work experience. Must be cleared to work with minors.
