Job Description

Position: Thrift Store Worker

Location: Williamsport

Availability of Position: Immediate

Schedule: Part Time Plus - 20 hours per week but may vary

Reporting Relationship: Thrift Store Manager and/or Corps Officer

Salary and Grade: $ 9.25- $9.75 per hour; 70 Non-Exempt

Responsibilities

Duties:

GENERAL CLEANLINESS:

  • Vacuum, mop, dust, clean restrooms, empty trash/cardboard, and cleaning duties as assigned

RETAIL/PROCESSING:

  • Operate cash register, greet and assist customers.
  • Help organize sorting room and item processing.
  • Coordinate the pitch bags for rag pick-up.
  • Vacuum and spray pillows and furniture.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Thrift Store Manager or Corps Officer.

SAFETY:

  • Always use safety belt when lifting.
  • Arrange for available help for heavy items over 75 pounds.
  • Make sure sales aisles and exits are clear at all times.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ability to operate cash register and accurately make change.
  • Must be dependable, honest and able to work independently.
  • Good communications, customer service and organizational skills.
  • Be neat and polite and effectively relate to people.
  • Retail experience helpful.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Team player with a positive attittude and committed to the store success
  • Pennsylvania's Child Protective Services Law requires that all prospective employees complete the following clearance and background checks: PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check, and PA DHS Criminal Record/Fingerprint Check. In addition, completion of a Pennsylvania approved Child Abuse Recognition and Reporting Training is necessary prior to employment.
  • Must understand and support for the Mission of The Salvation Army.
