Hope House Foundation – Norfolk, VA
Hope House Foundation is hiring for our Thrift Store in Norfolk. If you enjoy working with people, staying organized, and being part of a mission-driven team, we would love to hear from you.
Schedule: every Friday and Saturday = 16 hours a week. Flexibility required.

This position offers a blend of customer service, organization, teamwork, and hands-on operations in a positive nonprofit environment.
Position Responsibilities
Customer and Donor Engagement
- Provide friendly, courteous, and professional service to customers and donors.
- Assist donors with drop-offs and answer questions clearly and respectfully.
- Support a welcoming and positive shopping experience.
Store Operations
- Organize and prioritize daily tasks to support efficient store operations.
- Manage time effectively to complete assigned duties.
- Operate the cash register and process transactions as needed.
- Maintain the security, cleanliness, and organization of merchandise displays and sales areas.
Housekeeping and Maintenance
- Complete housekeeping tasks as assigned by the Operations Coordinator.
- Promptly report maintenance or equipment repair needs.
Inventory and Merchandise Management
- Sort, tag, and price donated items for sale.
- Assist with the appropriate disposal of non-sellable items.
- Help maintain organized back-room and storage areas.
Team Collaboration
- Attend quarterly team meetings.
- Support Thrift Store policies, goals, and continuous improvement efforts.
- Contribute positively to the overall growth of the team and Hope House Foundation.
Special Events
- Assist with coordination and staffing of the Stockley Gardens Art Festival Thrift Store booth and other special projects as needed.
Ethics and Administration
- Adhere at all times to the Hope House Foundation Employee Code of Ethics.
- Accurately complete required administrative forms, including payroll and mileage sheets.
