Shift Supervisor – 3rd Shift

Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Shift Supervisor to lead third-shift manufacturing operations and provide hands-on supervision to production employees. This role is responsible for ensuring that production goals, safety standards, quality requirements, and operational procedures are consistently met.
The Shift Supervisor will oversee daily shift activities, coordinate staffing and workflow, support employee development, troubleshoot production issues, and communicate operational needs to management and other departments. The ideal candidate is a visible, hands-on leader who can effectively balance production demands with employee safety, quality, and performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and provide direction to employees across production and support functions during the assigned shift.
- Coordinate daily production activities and staffing to meet operational goals and deadlines.
- Monitor production performance, equipment efficiency, quality, and workflow throughout the shift.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
- Enforce company policies, safety procedures, standard operating procedures, and quality requirements.
- Provide coaching, training, feedback, and performance support to employees.
- Conduct shift meetings and communicate important production, safety, quality, and staffing information.
- Address employee concerns and work to resolve issues promptly and professionally.
- Communicate staffing changes, attendance concerns, production issues, and other relevant information to appropriate departments.
- Document employee incidents, attendance issues, safety concerns, production problems, and corrective actions as required.
- Monitor and document production activity, shift results, equipment issues, and other operational metrics.
- Assist with investigations involving safety, quality, employee performance, and policy or procedure concerns.
- Partner with Human Resources and management regarding employee relations, performance management, training, and workplace policies.
- Coordinate effective shift handoffs and communicate important information to incoming and outgoing supervisors.
- Identify equipment or production problems and coordinate appropriate troubleshooting and escalation.
- Assist machine operators with troubleshooting and resolving operational issues when appropriate.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives designed to improve productivity, quality, safety, and efficiency.
- Participate in performance management, employee development, and engagement initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with applicable safety, quality, food safety/GMP, and operational standards.
- Participate in management meetings, training, and professional development activities.
- Follow company cybersecurity and information-security policies and training requirements.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- 2+ years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
- Working knowledge of manufacturing processes, equipment, and production procedures.
- Strong leadership and people-management skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong active listening and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong time-management skills with the ability to prioritize competing demands.

Preferred Qualifications
- Postsecondary education in manufacturing, operations, business, supervision, or a related field.
- Experience supervising hourly or union/bargaining-unit employees.
- Experience with manufacturing performance metrics, including OEE.
- Experience with ERP, HRIS, production management, or workforce management systems.
- Experience with continuous improvement or operational management methodologies.
Physical Requirements
This position requires the ability to work in a manufacturing environment and may include:
- Standing and walking for extended periods.
- Sitting as needed for administrative and computer-based tasks.
- Frequent reaching, grasping, handling, and other manual activities.
- Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, climbing stairs or ladders, and working at elevated heights.
- Ability to lift and carry up to approximately 30 pounds regularly.
- Occasional pushing and pulling of equipment or materials.
- Ability to hear alarms, machinery, and verbal instructions in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to perform visual tasks necessary for quality inspection and safe operation.
- Ability to communicate clearly with employees, supervisors, and other personnel.
Work Environment
The position is performed in a manufacturing/production environment and may involve:
- Night and overnight work.
- Exposure to varying temperatures.
- Exposure to dust, fumes, chemicals, and other manufacturing-related conditions.
- Working around moving machinery and other industrial equipment.
- Working in areas with elevated noise levels.
- Occasional work around elevated areas or confined spaces, depending on the facility.
- Additional hours or overtime as business needs require.
Safety Requirements
Employees are expected to follow all applicable safety policies and procedures and use required personal protective equipment (PPE). Required safety equipment will be provided as applicable. Closed-toe and closed-heel footwear is required.
