Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Industrial Mechanic Technician III to provide advanced mechanical maintenance and troubleshooting support for production machinery and industrial equipment. This position is responsible for independently diagnosing complex mechanical issues, performing repairs, supporting equipment installations and improvement projects, maintaining critical spare parts and wear-item inventories, and helping ensure equipment operates safely, efficiently, and reliably.
The ideal candidate will have strong industrial mechanical experience, excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. This role will also serve as a technical resource and mentor to less-experienced maintenance technicians.
Key Responsibilities
Mechanical Maintenance & Troubleshooting
- Provide advanced mechanical maintenance and troubleshooting support for production machinery and industrial equipment.
- Independently diagnose complex mechanical problems and determine appropriate corrective actions.
- Perform mechanical repairs, adjustments, replacements, and equipment maintenance with minimal supervision.
- Read, interpret, and work from mechanical drawings, diagrams, schematics, blueprints, manuals, specifications, and technical documentation.
- Inspect equipment to identify potential failures, safety concerns, and maintenance needs.
- Assist with equipment installations, upgrades, modifications, and large-scale repair projects.
- Support preventive and predictive maintenance activities as assigned.
Reliability & Equipment Improvement
- Perform inspections and repairs designed to improve equipment safety, efficiency, and reliability.
- Identify recurring equipment problems and recommend corrective actions and reliability improvements.
- Assist with maintenance process improvements, tooling recommendations, and equipment upgrades.
- Support preventive maintenance programs and help ensure scheduled maintenance activities are completed effectively.
- Document maintenance activities, repairs, parts usage, and equipment conditions using applicable maintenance management systems.
Parts & Inventory Management
- Help identify and maintain appropriate inventories of critical spare parts, components, and equipment wear items.
- Ensure commonly needed parts and materials are available to support maintenance activities and minimize equipment downtime.
- Track parts usage and maintenance-related inventory through computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) or other applicable tools.
- Communicate potential parts shortages and critical inventory needs to maintenance leadership.
Team Support & Technical Leadership
- Serve as a technical resource for other maintenance personnel.
- Provide coaching, guidance, and hands-on training to less-experienced maintenance technicians as needed.
- Share technical knowledge, troubleshooting techniques, and best practices with the Maintenance team.
- Work collaboratively with maintenance, production, engineering, and other departments to resolve equipment issues.
- Independently prioritize and manage maintenance activities during off-shifts or periods of limited supervisory coverage.
- Escalate significant equipment, safety, or operational concerns to appropriate leadership.
Safety & Compliance
- Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Participate in required safety, cybersecurity, compliance, and technical training.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Properly use required personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow established lockout/tagout and equipment safety procedures.
- Support a positive, professional, and collaborative workplace environment.
Additional Responsibilities
- Participate in maintenance meetings, training, and other department activities.
- Complete required maintenance documentation and records accurately and on time.
- Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Advanced knowledge of industrial mechanical systems, machinery, and maintenance practices.
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting, diagnostic, and repair skills.
- Strong critical-thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to independently troubleshoot and repair complex mechanical equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, manuals, and equipment documentation.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple maintenance activities and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
- Ability to quickly learn new equipment, processes, and technologies.

- Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
- Ability to adapt to changing operational and maintenance priorities.
Education & Experience
- Mechanical trade school certificate, technical degree, apprenticeship, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Five or more years of industrial mechanical maintenance experience preferred.
- Experience troubleshooting and repairing manufacturing or production equipment preferred.
- Experience working with preventive maintenance programs and CMMS systems preferred.
- Experience providing technical guidance or training to other maintenance personnel is a plus.
Schedule & Availability
- Primarily assigned to a weekend or off-shift schedule.
- Must be willing to support alternate shifts, overtime, major maintenance projects, equipment installations, training, and other schedule changes based on business needs.
- May occasionally be required to work extended hours or provide support outside of the regularly scheduled shift.
Physical Requirements
The physical requirements described below represent the typical requirements of the position:
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday.
- Frequent bending, kneeling, crouching, stooping, and reaching to access and service equipment.
- Ability to lift and carry materials, tools, and equipment weighing up to 75 pounds.
- Ability to climb ladders and stairs.
- Ability to operate or work from elevated work platforms, including scissor lifts, at heights of up to approximately 16 feet.
- Ability to push and pull equipment, parts, tools, and other loads.
- Ability to work safely around heavy machinery, moving equipment, and other industrial manufacturing environments.
- Ability to wear required PPE, which may include safety glasses, protective footwear, hearing protection, gloves, and other equipment based on the work area.
Work Environment
This position works primarily in an industrial manufacturing environment around production machinery, mechanical equipment, tools, and other industrial systems. The role may involve exposure to noise, moving machinery, elevated work areas, and varying environmental conditions. Employees are expected to follow all applicable safety procedures and PPE requirements.
