Thermal management system engineer

AVL List GmbH is the world's largest independent company for development, simulation and testing technology of powertrains(hybrid, combustion engines, transmission, electric drive, batteries and software) for passenger cars, trucks and large engines.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Serve as the primary interface between the project team, client, suppliers, and cross ‑domain engineering groups for all thermal ‑management ‑related system topics
• Coordinate system development by defining technical solutions, supervising integration activities, and ensuring compliance with automotive standards and AVL development processes
• Lead and animate technical meetings, workshops, and focus groups to resolve issues and align stakeholders on system architecture, integration, and validation
• Develop and manage system integration and validation plans, including test cases, test sequences, and performance analyses for thermal and energy ‑related functions
• Monitor system configuration and functionality, ensuring proper documentation, traceability, and readiness for reviews and releases
• Analyze test results, prepare progress reports, and drive resolution of technical issues and blocking points
• Contribute to project planning, tracking deliverables, and maintaining alignment with timelines and system development methodology
• Stay current with automotive thermal management technologies, methods, and best practices

YOUR PROFILE:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in thermal ‑mechanical engineering, fluid dynamics, automotive engineering, or a related field
• Professional experience in system engineering development within the automotive sector
• Solid understanding of hydraulics and/or thermodynamics applied to vehicle systems
• Familiarity with ICE, hybrid, and electric powertrains; exposure to their thermal management is a plus
• Creative and open ‑minded approach to technical problem ‑solving
• Strong negotiation and persuasion skills to align diverse stakeholders
• Team ‑oriented mindset with the ability to collaborate across engineering domains
• Good written and spoken English; French language skills are an advantage
• Strong familiarity with system engineering principles and automotive development processes
• Knowledge of system design, integration, and validation methodologies
• Experience contributing to or managing technical work packages or project streams
• Understanding of cooling circuits and automotive thermal management systems, including their integration into vehicle architectures
