Thermal Engineer

Your Tasks

We are looking for a Thermal Engineer to support space projects across the full lifecycle — from proposal preparation through design, development, and up to the launch campaign. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge space missions in an international environment, including collaboration with partners such as the European Space Agency (ESA).

This is an onsite position, located in Brno, Czech Republic. The position is offered as a fixed-term contract for 3 years, with the possibility of extension. We are primarily considering candidates based in the EU or with existing eligibility to work in the EU.

  • Support space projects from the proposal phase until the launch campaign
  • Aalysis of thermal subsystem requirements
  • Support for generation and maintenance of specifications for the thermal subsystem
  • Generation and maintenance of models (GMM and TMM)
  • Conceptual design of thermal control systems for space missions
  • Analysis of the Thermal Control System
  • Definition of thermal H/W components and coordination of thermal H/W suppliers
  • Establishment of input data for test campaigns (predictions, data processing, model correlations)
  • Participation on test campaigns
  • Preparation of documentation
  • Presentation of work results internally and to the customer
  • Participation in technical reviews with our international partners such as the ESA
  • Support with the proposal’s preparation and evaluation

Your Qualifications

  • Relevant education: Master’s degree in aerospace, mechanical engineering, thermal engineering or comparable qualification
  • Professional and methodical competence: Initial to mid-level experience in thermal engineering within aerospace or similar industry; Knowledge of thermal control systems and spacecraft thermal design; Experience in requirements analysis and specification of thermal subsystems; Familiarity with thermal modelling (TMM, GMM) and simulation tools (ESATAN); Understanding of thermal hardware components and basic supplier coordination; Experience in thermal analysis, testing; Knowledge of system engineering processes and technical reviews (e.g., ESA)
  • Social and personal skills: Ability to work effectively in interdisciplinary and international teams; strong communication and presentation skills; structured and analytical working approach; proactive, solution-oriented mindset; flexibility and willingness to learn and further develop skills; team-oriented approach with a growing level of responsibility; high level of reliability, integrity, commitment, and motivation; fluency in spoken and written English is a must
