Job Title: Therapy Assistant

Location: Davies Vets

Job Type: Permanent, part-time

Hours: 30.5 hours per week

We are recruiting a Therapy Assistant to join our well‑established Veterinary Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Service. Our department supports a wide range of inpatient and outpatient orthopaedic and neurological cases and provides small animal physiotherapy, acupuncture, orthotics, pain management and hydrotherapy services. The successful candidate will work within a multidisciplinary team comprising ACPAT‑qualified Chartered Physiotherapists, European Board‑Certified Veterinary Anaesthetists, Therapy Assistants, and clinical specialists from across the hospital.

The Therapy Assistant plays a key role in delivering a high standard of service to clients, patients, and referring veterinary practices. This hybrid position combines client‑facing responsibilities, administrative support, and hands‑on involvement with patient care. The postholder will ensure the smooth day‑to‑day running of the service through effective coordination, communication, and operational support.

You will be responsible for managing appointments, processing payments and insurance documentation, supporting physiotherapists in the safe handling and treatment of patients, and maintaining accurate records. A professional, calm, and supportive approach is essential, especially when working with clients who may be worried about their pets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage appointment bookings and coordinate the daily diary to optimise scheduling.

  • Provide a high level of customer service during client and veterinary practice interactions.

  • Carry out a range of administrative tasks, including accurate record‑keeping and documentation.

  • Process payments, discuss financial matters when required, and follow up on outstanding balances.

  • Support physiotherapists with the safe handling and treatment of inpatients and outpatients.

  • Assist with hydrotherapy processes, including water management (training provided).

  • Maintain stock levels and contribute to the efficient operation of the department.

  • Ensure professional communication across clients, colleagues, and referring veterinary practices.

  • Follow internal procedures, including the Eye Vet Complaints Process, when addressing concerns.

  • Uphold high standards of professionalism, ethics, and client care at all times.

Requirements

  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks.

  • Professional, diligent, and able to work effectively under pressure.

  • Good communication skills and the ability to maintain positive working relationships.

  • Confidence in working both independently and as part of a developing team.

  • Competence in animal handling or willingness to develop these skills through training.

  • Practical understanding of veterinary records, terminology, and clinic procedures (or willingness to learn).

About You

We are looking for an individual who is:

  • Calm, courteous, and professional in all client interactions

  • Attentive to detail and committed to maintaining accurate administrative records

  • Motivated to contribute to a high‑performing veterinary service

  • Comfortable supporting clients who may be anxious about their pets’ care

Why Join Us?

This role offers the opportunity to work within a respected therapy service, supporting a wide range of clinical cases and contributing to meaningful patient outcomes. You will work alongside experienced professionals in a supportive and collaborative environment, with opportunities to develop both administrative and hands‑on clinical support skills.
