Position Summary

This will be a joint position with two departments. The candidate will work in the Yeshiva University Counseling Center and will provide individual therapy, crisis intervention, and group therapy to undergraduate and graduate students. The therapist r will also coordinate, organize, and deliver outreach programs for students on campus.

In the capacity as Spiritual Educator, the candidate will work in the Torah Studies department as a religious educator, role model, and mentor to the student body through delivering shiurim, individual meetings, and Shabbat/holiday programming.

Position Responsibilities:

• Provide direct clinical services including individual psychotherapy, group therapy, referrals, and crisis intervention
• Provide consultation services to faculty and staff as needed
• Supervise interns/post doc and other therapists
• Assist with outreach programs to students on campus
• Maintain an assigned caseload of patients
• Actively participate in individual and group supervision
• Maintain clinical records in compliance with State and Federal regulatory agency requirements and program policies and procedures
• Perform other related duties as assigned
• Coordinate continuing education curriculum for interns and staff

• In the role of spiritual educator, the candidate will empower students to produce their own creative Jewish experiences and to further develop their religious identities

Candidates will also:

• Work with the Dean of Torah Studies to craft an educational vision and strategy for religious life on campus outside of the classroom, creating innovative opportunities for formal, informal, and experiential Jewish learning for students with diverse backgrounds and interests that include a multiplicity of perspectives
• Deliver regular shiurim in the Beit Midrash and study in small groups with students
• Create new educational opportunities, both formal and informal, and develop a corresponding curriculum and structure
• Engage the campus in Jewish conversation through social media and other creative means
• Serve as a Jewish educational resource for the Office of Student Life and student leaders
• Serve as a leader and educator on Service Learning intersession experiences
• Proactively form meaningful relationships with students from a variety of learning backgrounds, including students who have and have not attended Jewish Day school and seminary in Israel, and create opportunities for them to deepen their participation in religious life on campus
• Offer religious guidance and mentorship to students
• Connect students to resources and opportunities for religious growth in the greater New York and global Jewish communities
• Actively promote Yeshiva University and its Jewish life to prospective students and parents

Experience & Educational Background:

• The candidate should also have a BA or MA in Judaic Studies, Education, or Social Work
• At least two years of professional work experience
• The individual should have completed all coursework to be a licensed or certified psychologist, social worker, or mental health counselor
• Prior experience working in college counseling centers, with interest and experience in an area of specialty, such as eating disorders, substance abuse, or trauma, preferred
• Interest in outreach to our student community to run psycho-educational programs

Skills & Competencies:

• Candidate is required to have skills necessary to complete intakes, create treatment plans, and implement short-term psychotherapy and group therapy with undergraduate students and graduate students
• Candidate should have the skills to complete a suicide assessment and to be involved in crisis intervention
• Candidate should have proficiency in the treatment model they use, and preferably have familiarity with more than one treatment modality, such as CBT, DBT, and psychodynamic therapy

Salary Range:

$66,300- $68,000
