SUNSHINE COMMUNITIES

Therapeutic Lifeguard

Monitors activities in pool areas, gym, public space and multi-sensory room to ensure safety, prevent accidents and provides assistance to both individuals of Sunshine and community members by performing the following duties

  • Represent Sunshine Communities and the Aquatics Department with professionalism and excellent customer service.
  • Support individualized aquatic, fitness, and sensory programming for individuals served.
  • Assist individuals with safe pool entry, exits, and transfers.
  • Monitor pool activities, enforce safety rules, and respond to emergencies by providing first aid and CPR when needed.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the pool, locker rooms, gym, and multi-sensory room.
  • Inspect equipment and facilities, report maintenance needs, and assist with inventory and supply management.
  • Monitor and document pool chemical levels and report equipment concerns.
  • Instruct aquatic wellness classes, including Arthritis classes, as trained.
  • Maintain accurate records and complete required documentation.
  • Participate in team meetings, trainings, and perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Red Cross Lifeguard certificate and Red Cross Advanced Rescuer CPR & 1st Aid. Aquatic Arthritis Instructor certification or willingness to attend training and be certified
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization
  • One-year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Regularly stand, walk, reach, and use hands to perform job duties.
  • Frequently communicate with individuals, staff, and visitors.
  • Work in wet and humid environments.
  • Occasionally bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, and lift or move up to 50 pounds.
  • May have occasional exposure to bloodborne pathogens.
