Position Responsibilities
Position Summary
The Department of Theatre is seeking a part-time (20 hrs per week) Scene Shop Assistant for the 26-27 academic year to work in the Hartung Theatre scene shop under the supervision of the Technical Director.
Responsibilities
Job Duty Function Building and Painting Scenery Job Duties/Responsibilities
understanding and following all safety protocols;
ability to read and understand blueprints and designer working drawings;
review production and rehearsal reports.
Percentage Of Time 50% Essential/Marginal Essential Job Duty Function Supervising Students Job Duties/Responsibilities
supervising students during shop hours;
assisting with load-ins and strike;
consulting with TD on build schedule and job assignments;
clean-up at end of the work day to make space safe for rehearsals.
Percentage Of Time 30% Essential/Marginal Essential Job Duty Function Attending Meetings as Needed Job Duties/Responsibilities
attending meetings as needed;
other duties as assigned.

Position Qualifications
Required Qualifications
experience with wood shop tools such as saws, drills, grinders, pneumatics;
knowledge of building materials and hardware;
knowledge of theatre safety and cleanliness;
supervisory experience.
Preferred Qualifications
experience leading building teams for construction;
experience doing carpentry for theatre;
experience setting up and using stage lighting equipment;
experience setting up and using sound equipment like speakers, amps, and microphones.
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
Ability to lift, carry and/or otherwise move 50 pounds. Able to climb a tall ladder.
