What will you do?

A day in the life of a Global Merchandiser, Performance Footwear at The North Face looks a little like this.

Working alongside the Merchandising Manager, you will help shape the global three-year strategy for Performance Footwear across Trail Run, Hike, and Climb. You'll partner closely with Design, Development, Regional Merchandising, Planning, Brand, and Sourcing teams while owning a portion of the product line and driving commercial success through consumer-focused product decisions. You will report to the Merchandising Manager, Performance Footwear.

Let's break down that day-in-the-life a bit more:

  • Contribute to the three-year Performance Footwear strategy by helping define category direction and identifying opportunities that support brand and business objectives.
  • Leverage deep expertise across Trail Run, Hike, and Climb footwear, including performance, fit, materials, construction, and costing.
  • Analyze consumer insights, marketplace trends, and competitive activity to identify opportunities and inform seasonal product strategies.
  • Own portions of the Performance Footwear line including seasonal briefs, franchise management, line planning, and delivery against revenue and margin targets.
  • Lead cross-functional PODs with Design and Development partners to deliver authentic, consumer-driven products that meet business goals.
  • Manage the product lifecycle and seasonal calendar for assigned categories, ensuring alignment across key milestones.
  • Support global assortment and segmentation strategies while reconciling line plans with regional financial objectives.
  • Partner across Planning, Brand, and Sourcing teams to ensure category strategies come to life through the Go-To-Market process.
  • Present product stories and line plans to leadership teams and key external accounts, influencing decisions through strong category expertise.
  • Mentor and support the development of Associate Merchants.

What do you need to succeed?

We all have unique skills that we bring to work and celebrate every day. For this role, there are foundation skills you'll need to succeed and excel. Additionally, while formal education in a related field is great to have, we are most interested in your 3+ years of experience and professional achievements.

The foundation skills you will need in this position are:

  • Bachelor's degree (preferred) or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in footwear merchandising or footwear product line management.
  • Experience partnering cross-functionally with Design, Product Development, and Regional Merchandising teams.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to interpret financial metrics, revenue, margin, and profitability data.
  • Proven product lifecycle management experience, including line planning, briefing, and seasonal execution.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at multiple organizational levels.

There are also a few skills that are not required but preferred:
