Job Description

TGA of Southern Westchester is looking for enthusiastic, reliable coaches to join our growing after-school enrichment team.

We provide structured golf, tennis, and pickleball programs for children ages 5–15 at schools and community facilities throughout Southern Westchester and Fairfield County.

Our mission goes beyond teaching sports. We want to help children build confidence, teamwork, sportsmanship, and a lifelong love of being active. We are looking for coaches who believe in that mission and are excited to introduce kids to sports they can enjoy for decades.

About the Role

TGA coaches may be assigned as either a Lead Coach or Station Coach, depending on experience, qualifications, and the needs of each program. Both are active coaching roles.

Lead Coaches independently run an after-school class and are responsible for creating a fun, safe, organized, and engaging experience for their students.

Lead Coaches must be 18+ and successfully complete a background check.

Lead Coach compensation is based on experience, qualifications, and coaching responsibilities, with standard Lead Coach rates up to $75 per class On a limited basis, highly experienced or qualified coaches may earn up to $85 per class

Station Coaches work alongside the Lead Coach and help deliver instruction, drills, games, and activities to smaller groups of students.

Station Coach compensation is up to $45 per class, based on experience and qualifications.

Working as a Station Coach can also provide an opportunity to gain experience and take on Lead Coach assignments as you become familiar with the TGA curriculum and coaching standards.

What You'll Do

  • Lead or support after-school programs for children ages 5–15
  • Teach fundamental skills through fun, age-appropriate drills, games, and activities
  • Keep children engaged, active, and excited to participate
  • Create a safe, positive, and inclusive environment
  • Encourage confidence, teamwork, and sportsmanship
  • Build relationships with students and help them make meaningful progress
  • Communicate professionally with parents, school staff, and TGA leadership
  • Arrive prepared, on time, and ready to coach
  • Follow TGA's curriculum, coaching standards, and safety procedures

We Make Coaching Easy

We provide the curriculum, all necessary equipment, and comprehensive training.

You don't need to spend your time creating lesson plans, purchasing equipment, or figuring out what to teach. We give you the tools and structure—you bring the energy, personality, and ability to connect with kids.

We also maintain an 8:1 or better student-to-coach ratio We believe smaller groups allow coaches to provide more individual attention while creating a safer, more engaging experience for every child.

Who We're Looking For

We're looking for people who love sports and love working with kids

You should have a solid understanding of the fundamentals of at least one of the following: golf, tennis, or pickleball You don't need to be a professional player or elite-level athlete, but you should be comfortable demonstrating basic skills, explaining them to children, and helping a beginner develop confidence.

Most importantly, we're looking for people who are genuinely passionate about one or more of these sports and believe in their value beyond the playing field.

Golf, tennis, and pickleball are sports that children can enjoy for decades. We want coaches who are excited about introducing young people to that experience.

The right coach is someone who:

  • Enjoys being around children and takes pride in helping them develop
  • Has a genuine passion for golf, tennis, and/or pickleball
  • Understands the fundamentals of at least one of these sports
  • Can demonstrate basic skills and explain them in a way children understand
  • Is energetic, patient, positive, and encouraging
  • Understands that coaching is about more than teaching a sport—it’s about building confidence, character, and a lifelong relationship with physical activity
  • Wants to give back by introducing the next generation to sports they can enjoy throughout their lives
  • Is reliable, professional, and comfortable taking ownership of a group

This isn't a job for someone who simply wants to show up and pass the time. We are looking for coaches who care about the experience they create for children and take pride in helping a child discover a sport they may love for the rest of their life.

Additional Coaching Opportunities

After-school enrichment is our core focus, but there are opportunities to pick up additional coaching hours through:

  • Golf, tennis, and pickleball clinics
  • Summer camps
  • School vacation camps
  • Leagues
  • Weekend programs
  • Special events and tournaments

Coaches with strong knowledge and playing experience in golf, tennis, or pickleball may also be asked to lead our sport-specific clinics.

Schedule

Our after-school programs generally take place between 2:30 PM and 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday

We're particularly interested in coaches who can commit to multiple afternoons per week and who want a consistent part-time coaching position rather than occasional work.

Additional opportunities may be available during school vacations, weekends, and the summer.

We believe the best youth coaches aren't necessarily the people with the most impressive playing resumes. They're the people who can take something they love and share that passion with a child.

TGA provides the curriculum, equipment, training, and support. You bring your knowledge of the sport, your energy, and your ability to connect with kids.

If you're passionate about golf, tennis, or pickleball and would love the opportunity to introduce those sports to the next generation, we'd love to hear from you.

Teach. Grow. Achieve.
