Job Description

We are seeking a Textile Service Assistant II to support our Textile Services team by ensuring clean, sanitary linens are processed and delivered in a safe and efficient manner. This role works in both soiled linen and finishing linen environments and requires the use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).

Responsibilities include transporting linen carts to the cart dumper, opening soiled linen bags on the conveyor, and sorting soiled linens into designated bins. In the finishing linen environment, caregivers take clean linen and utilize finishing equipment to fold linen and build exchange carts.

The schedule for this position is 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM, with every other weekend and holiday rotation required On scheduled weekends, the hours are 4:00 AM – 12:30 PM

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate laundry equipment safely, including washers, dryers, ironers, and folding machines.
  • Pre-sort soiled linens and process clean linens for distribution.
  • Inspect linens for tears and stains; repair surgical linens as needed.
  • Prepare surgical packs and uniforms for hospital personnel.
  • Restock linen carts to maintain par levels.
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety in the laundry area.
  • Transport linens and carts to designated locations.
  • Adhere to departmental safety standards and report hazards promptly.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • One year of experience in laundry operations or on-the-job training.
  • Ability to operate laundry machinery and input basic computer commands.
  • Good hand-eye coordination and ability to communicate verbally.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 40 lbs, push/pull heavy carts, and stand/walk for prolonged periods.

This position has a starting rate of $17.75 per hour, regardless of prior experience. After six months of continuous employment, the hourly rate will automatically increase to $20.74 per hour. After one year of continuous employment, the hourly rate will automatically increase to $21.74 per hour.This pay rate/range represents ChristianaCare’s good faith and reasonable estimate of compensation at the time of posting. The actual salary within this range offered to a successful candidate will depend on individual factors including without limitation skills, relevant experience, and qualifications as they relate to specific job requirements.
