Job Description

Final inspection and testing of high voltage switch gear prototypes, including a variety of electronic, mechanical, electro-mechanical, and electrical tests to ensure unit functions according to specifications and standards or to determine cause of unit failure.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Performs high voltage testing, such as 60Hz AC, impulse and chopped wave tests.
  • Assist with the setup and testing process for temperature rise testing
  • Assist with the setup and testing process for mechanical endurance testing
  • Assist with the setup and testing process for extreme temperature testing of high-voltage equipment.
  • Perform mechanical adjustment operations on circuit breaker components, linkages, and operating mechanisms
  • Compare results with specifications, records test data, and prints test results
  • Perform electrical troubleshooting and repairs, including the replacing of defective wiring and electrical components, and mechanical repairs.
  • Confer with engineers, technicians, production personnel, and others regarding testing procedures and results and to resolve problems
  • Perform maintenance and repair procedures on electrical and mechanical test equipment, gas handling equipment, and test facilities
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Associates Degree in Electronics Engineering Technology or equivalent
  • Minimum of 4 years related experience in quality control testing

Desired Characteristics

  • Ability to interpret mechanical drawings, technical specifications / standards and wiring schematics, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information to management, customers, and suppliers.
  • Must have the ability to use a computer and be familiar with Windows, Excel, Word and Power Point
  • Knowledge of basic mathematics. Ability to apply basic statistical skills/knowledge.
  • The ability to communicate is necessary for interfacing with mechanical and electrical design personnel and to give direction to employees
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
