Navantia Australia has been contracted to perform the Platform System Designer (PSD) roles and responsibilities for the integration of the Combat System modernisation program into the Hobart class DDGs under SEA4000 Phase 6 (‘DDG Phase 6’) and the Destroyer Capability Enhancement (DCE). This program will upgrade the Hobart class at the Osborne Naval Shipyard in Adelaide by consortium of industry partners.
The DDG Phase 6 Osborne Testing Coordination Lead will manage and coordinate Navantia Australia (NAUS) involvement in the overall test program. This will include coordination, attendance at and input to the platform system test program, including revision of the ShipAlt test support annex, test protocols and test reports, as applicable.
The Testing Coordination Lead is responsible for supporting the Support Team Manager in the provision and coordination of test and activation services to the program, as well as liaising and coordinating between the Navantia DDG Phase 6 Design Team (based in Melbourne), Shipbuilder, Naval Construction Branch (NCB), and onsite representatives of the Combat System Integrators; Lockheed Martin Australia and Saab Australia. The Testing Coordination Lead will also coordinate with onsite NAUS Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) for the provision of specialist test and activation support experience in the fields of electrical systems, mechanical systems, outfitting and Integrated Platform Management System (IPMS).
