Job Description



Coordinate student access to on-campus examination and testing facilities. Organize and manage testing room schedules, reservations and manages inquiries regarding utilization of testing spaces. Work closely with the faculty and the Disability Resource Center to ensure student testing accommodations are reasonably met. Supervise, train and hire student work/study proctors to supplement services during peak exam hours and to cover staff shifts as necessary.

Collaborate with SMU Central and the Dean of Students Office for student compliance operations within Student Affairs including, but not limited to background checks, drug screens, and mandatory student trainings.

Works closely with the Assistant Dean of Student for Campus Life to assess, communicate, and meet students’ needs for the operations outlined above. Adjusts work focus dynamically as needs of campus, students and faculty shift within each semester cycle. Serves as a point of contact for faculty and students for on-campus testing and compliance inquiries. In addition, person will share responsibility for assessing services annually to make improvement in meeting student and faculty needs.


Duties and Responsibilities:

Job Duties and Accountabilities:

90% Student Services

· Adjust work focus dynamically as needs of campus, students and faculty shift within each semester cycle.

· Collaborate with the Assistant Dean of Students for Campus life and co-develop processes, when necessary, in partnership with appropriate department leads.

· Oversee the scheduling and proctoring of exams taken at the Testing Center or other campus locations.

· Supervise and proctor exams and enforce all requirements and conditions associated with the exam.

· Knowledge of and ability to evaluate and troubleshoot student accommodation requests.

· Hire, train and supervise work-study student proctors to supplement services during peak exam hours and to cover staff shifts as necessary. Creates schedules and approve timesheets for proctors.

· Assist the Assistant Dean of Campus Life in administering, tracking and managing mandatory student training and compliance materials. Sends notices as needed to students who are missing requirements.

· Assist the Director of SMU Central in tracking and managing student drug and background checks. Sends notices as needed to students who are missing requirements.

· Maintain database integrity; perform data entry and run reports for on-campus testing, student accommodations, and student compliance.

· Update webpages and other communication systems to ensure all compliance requirements are up-to-date and communicated clearly and consistently to all students.

· Serve as a point of contact for faculty and students for on-campus testing and compliance inquiries.

· Maintain confidential paper and digital student files, records, documentation, and correspondence with a strong knowledge of FERPA.

· Support the Assistant Dean of Campus Life in developing and coordinating faculty/staff workshops, new student orientation materials, and informational content on testing and compliance.

Qualifications:

Skills and Abilities

· Strong commitment to maintaining confidentiality and handling sensitive information with the utmost discretion and integrity.

· Excellent communication skills required, including the ability to communicate effectively with faculty, staff, currently enrolled students, and prospective students.

· Excellent written communication skills, including the ability to send formal letters to students and faculty.

· Proficient in Microsoft office suite, online training systems, and database systems.

· Courteous and professional manner.

· Diplomacy in dealing with conflict.

· Attention to details as they relate to recordkeeping and documentation of services provided.

· Demonstrated ability to make decisions and exercise professional judgment.

· Ability and skill to work independently, and as part of a designated team.

Education and Experience

· Baccalaureate Degree preferred

· Two to four years of student services, preferably in a college campus.

· Knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations governing accommodation provisions and program accessibility in higher education (Americans with Disabilities Act

and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act) and student privacy (in accordance with FERPA).

$23.21to $30.17/hour (non exempt)Samuel Merritt University currently provides base salary ranges for all positions-on job advertisements-in the United States based on local requirements. Individual compensation will ultimately be determined based on a variety of relevant factors including but-not limited to qualifications, geographic location, and other relevant skills.
