Job Description

Markon is seeking an experienced Tester – Expert to support mission-critical software development efforts for an Intelligence Community customer. The Tester will be responsible for developing and implementing quality assurance methodologies, designing and executing comprehensive test strategies, and ensuring software products meet established quality standards throughout the system development lifecycle.

The successful candidate will collaborate closely with software developers, systems engineers, product owners, and other technical stakeholders to identify defects, validate functionality, and ensure the delivery of reliable, secure, and high-quality software solutions in an Agile development environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain quality assurance methodologies, standards, processes, and procedures.
  • Design, develop, and execute software test plans, test cases, test scripts, and test procedures.
  • Perform functional, integration, regression, system, and user acceptance testing to validate software performance and functionality.
  • Identify, document, track, and verify software defects and coordinate with development teams to ensure timely resolution.
  • Evaluate software, hardware, and associated technical documentation to ensure compliance with quality standards and system requirements.
  • Participate in formal and informal reviews throughout the software development lifecycle, including requirements, design, code, and test readiness reviews.
  • Validate system enhancements, software updates, patches, and new functionality prior to deployment.
  • Collaborate with developers, system engineers, product owners, and Scrum teams to ensure quality is integrated throughout the development process.
  • Develop and maintain test documentation, test reports, defect logs, and quality metrics.
  • Support continuous improvement of testing processes, methodologies, and automation capabilities.
  • Assist with root cause analysis and verification of corrective actions for identified issues.
  • Ensure testing activities comply with customer quality assurance standards, security requirements, and organizational policies.
  • Support Agile development efforts by participating in sprint planning, backlog refinement, reviews, and retrospectives as needed.

Qualifications

  • Active TS/SCI clearance with Full Scope Polygraph (FSP) is required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in software testing, quality assurance, or software quality engineering.
  • Experience developing and executing software test plans, test cases, and test scripts.
  • Experience performing functional, integration, regression, and system testing.
  • Experience identifying, documenting, tracking, and verifying software defects using defect management tools.
  • Knowledge of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and software quality assurance best practices.
  • Experience reviewing software requirements, technical documentation, and system designs for testability and quality.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience using test management, defect tracking, and Agile collaboration tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, or similar platforms.
  • Ability to work effectively in Agile software development environments.

Desired:

  • Experience supporting Intelligence Community or Department of Defense software development programs.
  • Experience with automated testing tools and test automation frameworks.
  • Familiarity with Agile Scrum, DevSecOps, and Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) environments.
  • Experience testing web-based, cloud-native, enterprise, or distributed applications.
  • Knowledge of performance, security, and usability testing methodologies.
  • ISTQB Certified Tester, Certified Software Quality Engineer (CSQE), or other relevant quality assurance certification.

Salary Range

USD $150,000.00 - USD $190,000.00 /Yr.The Markon pay range for this position is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
