The individual works as a key member of a team supporting the development testing and evaluation of turbomachinery products. The individual requires minimal technical direction on a broad range of technical assignments, some requiring solutions to difficult technical problems. Individual exhibits full proficiency in planning, scheduling and executing complex measurement science or turbomachinery testing operations and is considered a key technical resource for a given project or assignment.

The individual is regarded as a primary team member, possessing considerable knowledge in specific areas of test or measurement sciences. The individual is accountable for sound judgment, delivering high-quality results and implementing corrective actions to resolve technical problems during all phases of testing operations. Impact of decisions may affect key projects or program deliverables.

NATURE AND SCOPE

  • Full proficiency in planning, scheduling and executing complex work assignments.

  • Develops solutions to technical problems independently.

  • Thorough understanding and application of measurement science or turbomachinery testing fundamentals.

  • Routinely applies technical training to improve established processes.

  • Fully proficient in most aspects of metrology or turbomachinery test activities, often working on new product or process developments.

  • Applies basic engineering and analytical principals to validate data and work task results.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Understands and complies with company EHS procedures and coaches peers for safety.

  • Exhibits advanced troubleshooting abilities.

  • Applies innovative approaches to technical problems and develop new methods and techniques.

  • Develops new approaches when established and proven procedures do not exist.

  • Operates complex equipment or conducts advanced equipment calibration activities.

  • Independently performs and documents test or calibration results, identifying sources and resolving anomalous experimental results.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • The position requires at least 2 years of applicable technician experience and training with demonstrated knowledge of Solar’s turbomachinery products, with emphasis on testing or metrology methods.

  • High school diploma or equivalent experience

  • Must be able to work 2nd shift

PREFERRED

  • Experience in engine mechanical work, with turbine engine test experience

Compensation Grade Range:

$36.80- $55.20

Compensation and benefits may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market, location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance, and experience.  Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.

This position requires working onsite five days a week.
