Reporting to the P&D Test Manager, the Test Technician is responsible for assembly of test systems, instrumentation, calibration, testing and troubleshooting, record keeping (data, test conditions, setups) teardowns and cleanups. The test technician will also assist with fault diagnosis and fault resolution. Areas of testing will be diverse and may include subsystem or complete equipment, static or moving, in the shop, or exposed to outdoor environment.

The Test Technician may be called upon to repair Väderstad equipment. The staff must use the appropriate Personal Protective Equipment to complete tasks safely. The person may have to work outside on occasions. The person must be able to occasional non-standard hours.

Education/Experience

• High School Diploma or GED or combination of equivalent education and experience.
• Mechanical Technician diploma or equivalent, farm experience and or mechanical related work experience would be an asset.
• Experience with AutoDesk Inventor or other CAD systems is considered an asset
• Experience with troubleshooting

Core Competencies

• Demonstrated understanding of hydraulics, cylinders, structures and related drawings / schematics.
• Mechanically inclined aptitudes.
• Operational knowledge of power motorized equipment including lift truck and tractor
• Must be able to comfortably lift 35 to 50 pounds / 16-20 kg (ex. work in a shop, address mechanical assemblies, lift pails of oil, operate torque guns, push mechanical devices, pull hydraulic lines)
• Must be willing to assemble/disassemble substructures.
• Must be willing to occasionally work in weather exposed environment.
• Good communication skills are required.
• Continuously and adapt to new products, test methods, equipment, and changing project priorities.
• Able to communicate effectively with engineers, designers, production, service and/or other internal departments as required.
• Able to work without supervision.

Accountabilities

• Prepare and or build test systems;
• Instrument, calibrate, and evaluate test setups.
• Isolate the systems or components that might have caused a problem
• Operate equipment for testing purposes or diagnose using various equipment.
• Accurately record test environment, equipment and devices used, data, results, and observations.
• Collect, organize, and share test data and observations with Test Engineers, design engineers, and project teams to support product decisions.
• Support the development and improvement of test procedures, test equipment, and testing practices within the P&D Test department.
• Follow internal standards, safety protocols, and company policies when completing test work, repairs, equipment operation, and documentation.
• Maintain equipment and instruments.
• Routinely inspect equipment for maintenance issues.
• Participate in department training programs as required
• Other duties as required
