Job Description

The Test Team Lead is responsible for testing and verification activities of embedded C++ software products and solutions. This role oversees a team of testers, ensures high‑quality test coverage, drives verification processes end‑to‑end, and maintains full transparency and control over planning, execution, and tracking.


Test Leadership & Coordination
Lead, mentor, and support the test engineering team.
Plan workload, allocate tasks, and manage team capacity.
Collaborate closely with development teams, system architects, and product stakeholders.
Support sprint planning, release readiness, and milestone reviews.
Test Planning & Tracking (Highlighted Responsibility)
Create and maintain comprehensive test plans, verification plans, and release test scopes.
Track and report progress of all test activities using Jira or test management tools.
Ensure requirement‑to‑test traceability is complete and continuously updated.
Provide regular status updates, risk assessments, and quality metrics to stakeholders.
Verification Ownership (Highlighted Responsibility)
Own and manage the entire embedded software verification process.
Ensure each requirement is verified with the appropriate test method.
Approve verification evidence and documentation.
Coordinate corrective actions and follow‑up when verification gaps or defects are identified.
Test Strategy & Coverage
Define and evolve the overall test strategy for the product.
Identify the optimal test coverage methods to achieve near 100% coverage.
Introduce and maintain risk‑based testing approaches.
Oversee regression, functional, performance, and interoperability testing.
Test Development & Execution
Review and approve test cases, test suites, and automation scripts.
Oversee manual and automated test execution.
Lead the development and maintenance of test environments and HIL/SIL setups.
Ensure embedded software is tested against functional and non‑functional requirements.
Debugging & Quality Assurance
Support defect analysis and debugging using tools such as GDB, logic analyzers, and log tracing.
Validate network and protocol behavior using Wireshark, tcpdump, and related tools.
Ensure full alignment with QA methodologies and documentation standards.

Core Competencies

Embedded Systems Testing

Deep experience with C++ applications running on RTOS and custom hardware.

Protocol & Network Validation

Verification of TCP/IP, UDP, SNMP, and other IP‑based protocols.

Domain Expertise

  • IP Networking: routing, switching, packet inspection
  • Telecommunications: signaling, data transmission
  • Transportation Systems: safety‑critical embedded environments

Test Automation

Automation scripting in Python / Bash, CI/CD pipeline integration (Jenkins, GitLab CI).

Debugging & Analysis

Skilled with GDB, Wireshark, tcpdump, logic analyzers, profiling tools.

Quality Assurance

Test documentation, traceability matrices, coverage analysis, defect lifecycle management.

Tools & Technologies

  • Programming: C++, Python
  • Testing: Google Test, CppUnit, Robot Framework
  • Version Control: Git, SVN
  • CI/CD: Jenkins, GitLab CI
  • Protocol Analysis: Wireshark, tcpdump
  • Issue Tracking: Jira
  • Platforms: Debian, Linux

Education & Certifications

  • BSc/MSc in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
  • ISTQB Certified Tester (Foundation or Advanced Test Manager preferred).
  • Optional domain‑specific certifications in IP networking, telecom, or transportation systems.
