Job Description

Test Specialist for the VELUX Test Centre - Østbirk

Are you passionate about testing and evaluating future building products in an in-house test centre?

We are looking for a new colleague for your windows test team in Østbirk. We can offer you an exciting position with a unique opportunity to develop professionally in an environment that values technical expertise and curiosity about regulations and product development.

In this role you’ll be working in one of the few in-house test centres in Denmark. We have our own facilities to test our new products. You will be responsible for planning and conducting product tests with a strong focus on performance under various external conditions — including wind, rain. You will help ensure that our products meet our high standards for functionality, durability, and safety in close collaboration with engineers from our product development projects.

We are looking for someone with the desire to contribute, learn and develop. If that sounds just like you, we will give you the chance to grow and to shape your own career in a positive working climate and we will offer you a world of opportunities – if you have the ability and the drive to take them.

Your challenges

In close collaboration with the team, you will be a part of tests related to the development of the future VELUX products. You’ll be joining a strong team of test professionals, ready to share their experiences and insight.

You’ll be actively involved in new product development projects acting as a competence in the testing and validation of the new products.

We have a state of the art laboratory and work with energy and climate issues related to building components e.g. U-values, acoustics, fire test, mechanical test, sun simulation, wind tunnel as well as safety and durability.

Your key tasks in this role are to:

  • Plan and run tests in our wind tunnel

  • Interpret data and results, and help translate them into clear recommendations for product developers

  • Interpret international standards and test according to these

  • Assist with building mock-ups and the selection of relevant tests

  • You’ll be responsible for complex test equipment including the wind tunnel

You will be based at our international test centre in Østbirk. You can expect national or international travel of approximately 5-10 days annually.

Your qualifications

We imagine that you have a vocational background in a skilled trade, knowledge of windows installation and roof constructions, combined with a degree as Master of Engineering or an equivalent longer technical education. Furthermore, you are:

  • Familiar with wind tunnel testing, and preferably have knowledge about Smoke and Heat Exhaust Ventilation Systems (SHEVs)

  • Able to work in a structured manner and are able to handle and communicate complex technical content in a structured and clear way, in writing and orally

  • Experienced within window design and have an interest in standardization and development

  • Comfortable with – or curious about – mechanical testing and the link between tests, standards and structural design

  • Experienced within flow conditions in a wind tunnel and have a general understanding of fluid dynamics

You’ll have practical as well as more theoretical elements in your day, making your job varied and challenging.

You have a structured approach to task solving with a good eye for details and the ability to work independently as well as in teams. You can easily comprehend complex problems/issues and disseminate information to others who do not have your technical knowledge.

You are motivated by making a difference in a professional, yet informal environment. A profound ability to communicate your findings and recommendations is key in this position. As well as your ability to collaborate with e.g. product developers. You need to have fluency in English since you will engage with stakeholders from different parts of our organisation and external partners. Danish language skills are also needed as some of your colleagues are Danish speaking. Fell free send your application in Danish or English depending on your preference.
