This position is responsible for designing, developing, testing, and deploying test systems applications and software for the testing of industrial gas turbines. These applications interface with data acquisition systems (DAS) that support Solar’s various test and manufacturing groups, including Production Test, Development Test, and Overhaul Test. This position is part of the test World Wide Test Team, providing support to worldwide test facilities and partnering closely with metrology, test cell engineers, and technicians. Additionally, this position will actively participate in troubleshooting and resolving test systems software issues while collaborating closely with test facilities to enhance software capabilities and service delivery.

What you will do:

  • Gather and validate functional and technical requirements.

  • Design, develop, test, and implement LabVIEW/.NET-based applications.

  • Perform functional, integration, and system testing.

  • Document architecture specifications, software design descriptions, verification plans, and test cases.

  • Utilize appropriate tools to design, debug, troubleshoot, and maintain source code and computer programs.

  • Develop and execute automated and manual test scripts.

  • Collaborate with test facilities on project scope and execute projects that meet business needs.

  • Apply technical knowledge to analyze, investigate, and resolve test system software issues.

  • Provide support to test cells as needed.

What You will have:

  • Effective Communications: understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors

  • Software Development: knowledge of software development tools and activities; ability to produce software products or systems in line with product requirements 

  • Software Development Life Cycle knowledge of software development life cycle; ability to use a structured methodology for delivering and managing new or enhanced software products to the marketplace 

  • Software Integration Engineering: knowledge of software integration processes and functions; ability to design, develop and maintain interfaces and linkage to alternative platforms and software packages 

  • Software Product Design/Architecture knowledge of software product design; ability to convert market requirements into software product design 

  • Software Product Technical Knowledge: knowledge of technical aspects of a software product; ability to design, configure and integrate technical aspects of software products. Experience with software development using LabVIEW, C++, C#, MATLAB, .NET

  • Software Product Testing: knowledge of software product testing; ability to design, plan, and execute testing strategies and tactics to ensure software product quality and adherence to stated requirements

What will set you apart:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related degree (selected candidates must complete their degree by their start date) 

  • Experience through internships, personal projects, research, hackathons, student organizations, or coursework is highly valued

  • Experience with equipment testing software integration.

  • Ability to comprehend and effectively integrate test instrumentation equipment and data acquisition measurement devices into test systems software solutions.

  • Proficiency in application development tools, including Azure DevOps and GitHub.

  • Familiarity with Test Program Specification (TPS) languages.

  • Problem-solving skills, including the ability to recognize, anticipate, and resolve product or process problems.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Attention to detail and a self-starter attitude.

Pay Range:

$112,704.00 - $169,056.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
