Hiring for 1st or 2nd Shift
  • 1st Shift: 7:30am - 4:00pm
  • 2nd Shift: 3:30pm - 12:00am

Basic Function:

  • This job consists of performing duties required to install,repair,or replacethe electricalcircuitry,electrical testequipmentand electrical components of units being assembled,repaired,or tested

  • Work under the specificdirection of engineers or technicians onjobs asassigned by shift supervision.

  • Typical daily functions include:

  • Following company provided lock out tag out training

  • Supporting product testingwithpower connections to the facility wiringand troubleshootingelectrical issues

  • Installingand commissioningnew electrical equipment

  • Performingfacility equipment repairs and maintenance

  • Carrying outvoltage tap changes on VFD drives

  • Building electrical enclosures

  • Electricians will train and transfer knowledge to other electricians whenrequiredto support all electrical operations needed to support efficient operations of the Test Lab as outlined in this job description.

  • Teamwork is essential for successElectricians need to work cooperatively with co-workers, engineering team members, and leadership tofacilitateefficiently finishing daily tasks and meeting project goals consistently.

  • Critical thinking iskeyelement to support being successful in this role.Electriciansare required toaddress problems whenidentifiedand follow through to support resolution, or a corrective action is reached.

  • Must be alert when workingwithintheconfines of electrical panels with high voltages

  • Must be able to work fromdrawingsand understand standard electricalschematicsymbols

  • Able to understand and work from test request documents, sketches, procedures,emails,andmanufacturersspecifications

  • Be familiar with Electricalcodes

  • Capable ofexecutinginstructionsoutlined inLab Information Management System

  • Performelectrical hook-upsrequiredfor testingInspect, service repair, replace or make initial installation of any electrical service or item.

  • Work with power line voltage, balance electrical leads, prepare and run conduit.

  • Install or replace solid state or logic circuitryMake electrical calculations,determinepower factor, kilowatts

  • Able to use typical tools of the trade such as, wire strippers, pliers, screw drivers, soldering irons, hand drills, ladders,andappropriate materialhandling equipment.

Nature and Scope of Assignments

  • Highly diversified workrequiredtosupport offacility equipment includes such devices as fans, pumps, heaters, valves, controls, drives, instruments, data acquisition devices, and computersMonitor gauges, dials, controls, sensors, instruments, and displaysRegulate flow rates, temperature controls, pressure controls, humidity controls, motor generator frequency, VSD frequency, motor/component speed/frequency control,andcomputer controls.

  • Operations include working from drawings,schematicssketches, codes, instructionsMake electrical hook-upsrequiredfor testing,installation of hardware, testing andrepairingof units, control panels.Inspect, service repair, replace or make initial installation of any electrical service or itemWork with power line voltage, balance electrical leads, prepare and run conduitInstall or replace solid state or logic circuitryMake electrical calculations,determinepower factor, kilowatts

  • Will have a depth of knowledge that will allow theElectrician to perform a basic level of troubleshooting and analysis of performance, communicating this information back to the Electrical Engineer as needed for support and guidance.

  • Be aware of and understand the Health & Safety PolicyYou have the responsibility to incorporate the Health and Safety concepts when carrying out procedures and work tasksInitiate action to prevent non-compliance with legal or policy requirementsIdentifypotential hazards and recommend solutions and verify their implementationControl activities until required changes are carried outAct in emergencies. Provideresources ifin a position to do so.

  • Be aware of and understand the Environmental PolicyFollow work instructions and procedures to ensure compliance with the policy when they apply to your job responsibilitiesKnow the significant impacts the campus has on the environmentKnow and follow emergency & evacuation procedures.

  • Requires moderate physical efforts working continuously with lightweight materials when assembling, wiring, repairing, handlingmaterials. Occasionally,mighthave to lift up to 50 Lbs.

  • Could require travel to Grantley Plant in York PA which is less than 20 miles from New Freedom Lab.

  • Training requiredCompletion of120-daytraining program coveringbasicsafety requirements,knowledge,andtechnical competenciesto support electrical workrequiredin the facilityAdditionaltrainingsmay berequiredupon completionof this program.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 4 years’ experiencerequired   Must be able to use tools and test equipmentofthe trade, ladders,appropriate materialhandling equipment. Journeyman level qualification desired.
