Test Facility Engineering Intern

Duration: Summer (12 weeks)

Role overview:

The Rolls-Royce Stennis Outdoor Test Facility is located on NASA’s John C. Stennis Space Center (Mississippi, USA) just outside the city of New Orleans, Louisiana. R-R-Stennis is capable of testing Rolls-Royce jet engines: large, medium, and military. The R-R-Stennis is the only Rolls-Royce site capable of performing special tests such as fan flutter and noise testing.

What you’ll be doing:

• Supporting all Engineering specialists with investigations, troubleshooting, and analysis
• Completing short-term projects that support improvements to the site
• Researching long term projects that will support the development of site technology in the future
• Participating in global meetings to gain an understanding how an engineering company works with remote sites.

Who we’re looking for:

• Working towards a bachelor’s or master’s in mechanical engineering and/or related degree
• A strong passion for the future of technology
• A willingness to work flexibly and travel between locations. In most cases, you’ll be able to meet the requirements in the location you are recruited to, however, we may need you to be flexible and travel between sites during or for your internship
• An open-minded, curious, and agile approach to work and career development
• Understanding of engineering principles
• Exposure to mechanical systems; hydraulics, compressed air, dynamics, etc.
• Exposure to electrical systems; circuits, IT networks, instrumentation, etc.
• Experience in generating electronic information; reports, data analysis, etc.
• Exposure to system design; AutoCAD/Solid Works, reading electrical and mechanical drawings, etc.

Minimum GPA: 3.0
