Job Description

Our client, a multinational engineering and construction organisation, is seeking a highly skilled Test Engineer to lead and execute all testing, verification, and performance evaluation activities across major infrastructure works within the Road and Bridge Project Department.

The successful candidate will serve as the primary authority for construction material testing, structural trial assessments, equipment performance validation, and quality assurance procedures, ensuring that all project components meet international engineering standards, contractual specifications, and local regulatory requirements. This role will oversee laboratory and field-testing operations, interpret technical data, verify compliance, and provide expert guidance to construction teams, guaranteeing that all road and bridge works achieve the highest levels of reliability, durability, and engineering precision.

Key Responsibilities

Independent Trial Management

  • Supervise pre‑construction testing for all materials and mix ratios; ensure 100% verification and approval.
  • Guide and oversee process tests; review and endorse all results.
  • Develop project testing management protocols (specifications, items, frequency, reporting, record forms).
  • Improve and maintain the project testing ledger system.
  • Conduct on‑site and laboratory inspections according to testing regulations.
  • Manage procurement, testing, and inspection of raw, semi‑finished, and finished materials with strict quality control and random sampling.
  • Issue test/inspection reports; promptly approve qualified work.
  • Record and follow up on unqualified test results.
  • Conduct internal quality acceptance and maintain acceptance records.
  • Participate in external completion and final acceptance.

Work Review & Development

  • Attend weekly and monthly departmental meetings; summarise performance and reinforce goals.
  • Contribute to meeting minutes.
  • Improve job‑related knowledge and skills through training; share insights.
  • Assist department manager in organising departmental and company training programs.

Archives Management

  • Organise paper and electronic documents monthly.
  • Collect and store work photos/videos.
  • Upload materials to the Cloud and back them up to a hard drive.

Company Policy Adherence

  • Attend company and project department training sessions; summarize and review training content.
  • Record daily test data and upload to the Chat group.
  • Respond to supervising engineer’s comments.
  • Learn, comply with, and implement all company regulations and procedures (attendance, vehicle use, safety, dormitory/office management, 6S management).
  • Assist the lead engineer in organising and participating in team‑building activities for departments, projects, and the company.
  • Complete additional tasks assigned by superiors.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related fields or a related technical discipline.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a test engineer in bridge and road Projects
  • Valid Membership with Engineering Institute of Zambia (EIZ)
  • Proficient in the operational procedures and workflows outlined in the road and bridge project testing management guidelines
  • Proficient in mastering the technical specifications related to road and bridge engineering adopted in China and Zambia, with a preliminary understanding of FIDIC clauses and ability to apply relevant knowledge to practical project management work
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite and Digital Occupational Health Systems.
