Job Description

As a Test Engineer, you will join a team of software test experts whose goal is to design test solutions that challenge and stress the functionality, reliability, and performance of our wearable patient monitoring products.

This is a unique role that involves a high level of hands-on work with lab equipment, and therefore requires the majority of the time to be spent on-site.

The position is based in Vallila, Helsinki, where GE HealthCare employs approximately 700 people across engineering, R&D and manufacturing. The Helsinki site is a center of excellence for wearable patient monitoring, with a long-standing reputation as a powerhouse of innovation. We offer end-to-end capabilities on site—from Installed Base support to Product Development, Advanced Manufacturing, and Innovation—all under one roof.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute manual testing activities for patient monitoring systems, with a strong focus on system-level validation and real-world usage scenarios.
  • Support and develop test automation using Python and Robot Framework.
  • Support system installations, setups, and maintenance of test environments, including troubleshooting of IT servers, networking, and related infrastructure.
  • Investigate failures, collaborate with software developers and other stakeholders, and help drive quality issues to resolution.
  • Translate product requirements into practical test scenarios and test execution plans.
  • Document, maintain, and report test results with high attention to detail and quality.
  • Ensure compliance with medical regulatory standards, including proper defect reporting and test evidence handling.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of test methods, environments, and quality practices.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
  • Experience in software development, with strong interest in hands-on manual testing.
  • Good understanding of how to test complex systems involving both software and hardware.
  • Experience troubleshooting technical issues in environments involving embedded systems, Linux, servers, networking, and system configurations.
  • Proficient in AI-assisted development.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a passion for software testing.
  • Self-starter with a collaborative mindset and ownership attitude.
  • Fluent in English (spoken and written); EU work permit required.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience testing medical devices, patient monitoring systems, or other regulated products.
  • Experience in test automation with Python and Robot Framework.
  • Experience with Git, code review tools, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Familiarity with Linux and basic shell usage.
  • Experience with agile development methodologies
