Job Description
Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Board Level Test Engineer to join our team and lead the development and implementation of comprehensive test strategies for complex, high-performance Printed Circuit Board Assemblies (PCBAs). In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality, reliability, and manufacturability of our board-level products. You will work hands-on to design and deploy production-ready test solutions for high-volume boards, collaborating closely with hardware design, firmware, and manufacturing teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Test Strategy & Development: Define and develop end-to-end board-level manufacturing test strategies, including coverage goals and test specifications for In-Circuit Test (ICT), Boundary Scan/JTAG, and functional test.
- Hardware & Software Implementation: Design, build, and debug test fixtures, hardware, and automated test stations. Develop and maintain manufacturing test content and diagnostic software using languages such as Python, C#, and .NET.
- DFT Collaboration: Partner with hardware and firmware engineering teams early in the design phase to ensure Design for Testability (DFT) and Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles are integrated, providing feedback on schematics, layout, and test hooks.
- Debug & Validation: Lead board-level hardware bring-up, debug complex hardware and software issues on the manufacturing floor, and root-cause assembly defects or component failures.
- Manufacturing Support: Deploy and support test solutions at manufacturing sites (including offshore partners), ensuring repeatability, throughput, and yield targets are met. Perform test time reduction and cost improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience: 4–8 years of experience in board or PCBA test engineering, preferably in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
Technical Skills:
- Hands-on experience with functional test development, ICT, and boundary scan/JTAG.
- Proficiency in programming/scripting languages (e.g., Python, C, C#, .NET).
- Working knowledge of hardware protocols (e.g., PCIe, I2C, SPI) and lab equipment (oscilloscopes, DMMs, etc.).
- Strong understanding of SMT/PCB manufacturing processes and failure mechanisms.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience testing boards with AI accelerators, GPUs, or high-power devices.
- Familiarity with high-current power delivery and power integrity testing.
- Experience developing or supporting embedded test firmware on MCUs.
- Knowledge of automated factory data systems and yield analysis.
