Senior Test Engineer
📍 Location: Kolkata, India | Hybrid – 2 Days in the Office

About the Role
The Test Engineer is responsible for writing code and scripts, identifying tools for functional and non-functional tests, and contributing to automated test frameworks that ensure the delivery of high-quality software and products. You'll design test plans, procedures, and scripts to accurately assess new products and updates in accordance with product requirements and department quality standards.
With 10+ years of experience in software testing and quality engineering, you'll bring deep technical expertise — particularly in Selenium — to lead complex testing initiatives, drive automation innovation, and serve as a trusted advisor across engineering teams. You'll collaborate with cross-functional groups to define, document, analyze, perform, and interpret tests for products, systems, components, and software modifications, while contributing to the continuous evolution of the build pipeline.
Your Role Responsibilities? Here's What You'll Do.
- Develop and maintain complex integration, functional, and non-functional tests and automated test frameworks across teams — leveraging Selenium WebDriver, TestNG, and JUnit — to ensure the holistic quality of the software.
- Lead and maintain the implementation of the delivery pipeline using Jenkins and GitHub Actions, including test automation frameworks, build environments, test environments, and security integrations.
- Lead the verification of system functionality by executing complex automated and manual tests; analyze results, create and manage performance metrics, defects, enhancements, test cases, and test results within Jira while providing actionable recommendations.
- Operate as a trusted advisor on testing issues and trends; provide general consulting services leveraging 10+ years of expertise and best practice knowledge — identifying and implementing better test tools and automation methodologies including Selenium-based testing strategies
- Analyze and report test results, monitor trends over time using Grafana or Splunk dashboards, and provide guidance to teams to continuously improve quality and testing efficiency.
- Mentor, coach, and train team members; complete complex peer code reviews for test automation code; influence and lead on team standards, processes, planning, work estimation, and test design while assessing the business value and broader impact of software changes.

Role Essentials
BS or MS in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience, with a minimum of 10+ years of hands-on experience in software quality engineering — including deep expertise in Selenium WebDriver and significant experience across all phases of the test lifecycle from planning and design through execution and reporting.
10+ years of proven experience with test automation frameworks such as Selenium WebDriver, TestNG, or JUnit, combined with strong proficiency in Selenium-based testing strategies, software application testing methodologies, and process frameworks across Windows and Linux platforms
Significant experience with multiple scripting and programming languages including Python, Java, Bash, or Groovy, with demonstrated ability to write, review, and maintain complex automation scripts and complete thorough peer code reviews for test automation code.
Hands-on expertise with build environments and delivery pipelines using Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or Azure DevOps, including significant experience with source control systems such as Git or GitHub, database technologies, and Agile frameworks managed in Jira
Strong oral and written communication skills with a professional demeanor; demonstrated leadership, sound judgment, and business acumen with a proven track record of mentoring and coaching teams, collaborating across all organizational levels, and operating as a trusted advisor on complex testing challenges.What We'd Like to See
Advanced expertise in Selenium WebDriver, including experience designing and implementing enterprise-scale testing strategies, custom test configurations, and integrating Selenium within CI/CD pipelines for continuous quality assurance.
Experience with performance and load testing tools such as JMeter, Gatling, or BlazeMeter, with demonstrated ability to integrate performance testing into CI/CD pipelines to identify bottlenecks and ensure system scalability.
Proficiency with API testing tools such as Postman, REST Assured, or SoapUI, with demonstrated ability to design, execute, and automate comprehensive API test suites for both functional and non-functional testing.
Experience with security testing tools such as OWASP ZAP, SonarQube, or Snyk, with an understanding of DevSecOps principles and the ability to incorporate security validation into the automated test framework.
Familiarity with monitoring and reporting platforms such as Grafana, Splunk, or Allure Reports, enabling effective trend analysis, defect tracking, and continuous improvement of test outcomes over time.About Hyland
