Job Description

The Test Engineer is responsible for end-to-end testing of an integrated e-payment system, covering both device-based and back-office components. The role involves planning, designing, executing, and automating test solutions across the full testing lifecycle, working closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure system quality, reliability, and performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform end-to-end testing for integrated e-payment systems
  • Plan and execute testing activities across the testing lifecycle, including analysis of business and system requirements
  • Design, develop, and maintain comprehensive test cases and test scenarios
  • Prepare, configure, and manage test environments
  • Execute manual and automated test procedures and validate system behaviour against requirements
  • Develop and automate test solutions using scripting or programming languages, including performance tuning
  • Establish traceability between test cases and system requirements, identify gaps, and address coverage issues
  • Log, track, and manage defects through to resolution
  • Conduct test reviews and walkthroughs with internal and external stakeholders
  • Perform root cause analysis for production and UAT defects, and enhance test coverage to improve efficiency
  • Develop test design documentation and user manuals for test automation solutions

Qualifications & Experience

  • Tertiary qualification in Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in software testing and test automation
  • Hands-on experience testing device-based (UI or embedded) systems and/or back-office systems
  • Familiarity with the full system development lifecycle, from requirements gathering through development, testing, and deployment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team

Added Advantage:

  • Certification in software testing (e.g. ISTQB)
  • Experience with micro-payments or Automatic Fare Collection (AFC) systems using smart cards
  • Exposure to multiple test phases, including:
  • System Integration Testing (SIT)
  • User Acceptance Testing (UAT)
  • Performance and load testing
