Job Description
Venture Dynamics is seeking a Test Coordinator to support ship repair and construction projects in an active shipyard environment. The Test Coordinator serves as the primary interface between the Project Team and Quality Assurance, coordinating, scheduling, tracking, and documenting all required testing and inspections. This position works closely with production teams, QA personnel, customer representatives, and regulatory bodies to ensure testing is completed in accordance with the Test and Inspection Plan, NAVSEA requirements, and applicable contract requirements. This role supports projects throughout repair and construction, including final completion, sea trials, delivery, and guarantee periods.
Responsibilities
- Review ship repair work items to identify required tests, inspections, checkpoints, and applicable NAVSEA Standard Item requirements.
- Obtain and review the Test and Inspection (T&I) Plan and any special government testing requirements for each ship repair project.
- Develop, maintain, and update the Test and Trials Schedule and Tracking Matrix.
- Coordinate shipboard testing and inspections with Quality Assurance, Production, Project Teams, Foremen, Lead personnel, customer representatives, and other involved departments.
- Develop test procedures, test plans, reports, and other contract-required test documentation.
- Verify required tests and inspections are completed satisfactorily and properly documented within the T&I Plan.
- Review the CFR database to verify required test and inspection reports, supporting data, and attachments are complete and final results are satisfactory.
- Submit Work Completion Certification Report input and T&I status information to the Test & WAF Manager for applicable work items.
- Track required Departure From Specification (DFS) documentation and ensure submissions are completed and addressed.
- Support shipyard project milestones by ensuring government-required tests, inspections, and reports are completed and submitted on schedule.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and directly related experience.
- Approximately 10 years of experience in ship repair, ship construction, testing, or related marine operations is desired.
- Strong knowledge of shipyard repair and construction processes and procedures.
- Proven experience with propulsion plant systems, Centralized Control System operations, and diesel generators.
- Experience supporting vessels through final completion, testing, sea trials, delivery, and guarantee periods.
- Demonstrated knowledge of shipyard production processes, planning, scheduling, quality assurance, and safety requirements.
- Experience working with customer representatives and regulatory bodies.
- Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and team-building skills.
- Ability to prepare and present technical briefings to individuals and large groups.
- Must meet requirements to obtain a DOD Regional Contractor Badge and access U.S. Navy/USCG bases and Controlled Industrial Areas.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous Test Coordinator experience in a Navy ship repair or shipbuilding environment.
- Experience coordinating Test and Inspection Plans and shipboard testing activities.
- Familiarity with NAVSEA Standard Items and government testing and inspection requirements.
- Experience developing test procedures, test plans, test reports, and Test and Trials tracking documentation.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat.
