What you’ll do

  • Operational Management:Plan, schedule, and deliver test work while utilizing results and process knowledge for conceptual design of process and slurry handling solutions incorporating Weir Minerals products and external technologies. Manage day-to-day test facility operations ensuring delivery on time, within cost, and quality targets.

  • Customer Engagement:Meet with customers to understand test requirements, oversee test reporting, and support product development teams with prototype assessment and virtual method development.

  • Collaboration & Networking:Drive collaboration with customers, Weir regions, universities, and knowledge platforms to access best available knowledge and innovation.

  • Leadership & Team Development:Provide effective leadership and technical direction to the Weir Technical Centre test team, fostering strong morale, clear goals, and a culture of continuous improvement.

  • Safety First:Demonstrate 100% commitment to our zero harm behaviors in support of our drive towards developing a world-class safety culture. Lead by example in safety compliance, risk management, and environmental stewardship.

  • Travel Requirements:Occasional travel to mine sites and other locations as needed to support operations and customer engagement.

  • Success Metrics:Success in this role means delivering innovative, sustainable solutions that meet customer needs, maintaining high equipment utilization, ensuring safety compliance, and leading a motivated, high-performing team.

What you’ll bring
Must-haves:

  • Experience managing a laboratory, test centre, or testing operation, ideally in metallurgical, mineral processing, or industrial laboratory environments.

  • Proven safety leadership with the ability to create, maintain, and enforce safety systems and a Zero Harm culture.

  • Strong frontline leadership skills with the ability to influence, enforce standards, and operate independently with confidence and maturity.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Minerals Processing, or related discipline.

Nice-to-haves:

  • Experience in metallurgical or mineral processing laboratories or mining test centres.

  • Advanced degrees such as a Master’s or PhD in minerals processing or related fields.

  • Familiarity with a wide variety of tailings solution equipment and slurry handling technologies.

  • Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Office and process engineering software.
