About the Opportunity

At Dayforce, we are transforming Powerpay, our Canadian payroll and human capital management solution, by modernizing existing applications and building scalable, cloud-native services. We are looking for an experienced, hands-on Senior QA Automation Engineer who combines strong software testing expertise, automation development skills, and a passion for leveraging Artificial Intelligence (AI) to improve software quality and testing efficiency. You will play a key role in ensuring the reliability, performance, and quality of our applications across web, mobile, and backend services.

As part of our modernization journey, you will work with modern automation frameworks, CI/CD pipelines, AWS cloud infrastructure, and AI-powered development tools. We are particularly interested in engineers who can go beyond traditional testing approaches by effectively using AI to generate test scenarios, identify edge cases, accelerate automation development, and continuously improve test coverage.

What You'll Get to Do:

• Design, develop, maintain, and execute automated tests for web applications, mobile applications, APIs, and backend services.
• Build and enhance scalable, maintainable automation frameworks using tools such as Playwright, Selenium, Appium, or equivalent technologies.
• Analyze functional requirements, user stories, and technical specifications to develop comprehensive test strategies and test cases.
• Apply risk-based testing techniques to identify critical business scenarios, boundary conditions, and potential defects.
• Leverage AI-powered tools to generate, refine, and optimize test cases, test data, and automation scripts.
• Design automated tests covering functional, integration, regression, and end-to-end testing.
• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines to provide continuous quality feedback.
• Collaborate closely with developers, Product Owners, architects, and DevOps engineers to ensure quality throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Investigate complex defects, analyze application logs, and perform root-cause analysis.
• Validate data integrity and business rules across application layers, APIs, and databases.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies, sprint planning, story refinement, and technical discussions.
• Mentor junior QA engineers and promote modern quality engineering practices.
• Identify opportunities to improve test automation coverage, execution efficiency, reliability, and maintainability.

Skills and Experience We Value:

• Test Automation and Quality Engineering
• Strong hands-on experience in software testing and test automation.
• Proven experience designing and maintaining automated testing frameworks.
• Proficiency with automation tools such as Playwright, Selenium, Cypress, or Appium.
• Strong programming or scripting skills in JavaScript, TypeScript, Java, Python, or equivalent languages.
• Solid understanding of software testing principles, methodologies, and best practices.
• Experience with functional, regression, integration, end-to-end, and API testing.
• Strong knowledge of test case design techniques, including boundary value analysis, equivalence partitioning, decision tables, and negative testing.
• Experience with REST API testing using tools such as Postman, REST Assured, or equivalent frameworks.
• Understanding of relational databases and SQL for backend data validation.
• Experience with Git, code reviews, and test automation development practices.
• Strong debugging, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities.
