Job Description

As a Test Automation Engineer, you will contribute to the delivery of reliable, maintainable, and effective automated testing across the application stack. The role covers both UI and backend/API testing, with a focus on critical user journeys, regression coverage, integration flows, and business-critical functionality.

You will work with the existing FCE testing stack, including Playwright for UI and end-to-end testing, Java/REST Assured for API automation, and CI/CD execution through Google Cloud Build You will also contribute to test reporting and evidence capture using tools such as Allure and Xray/Jira

The role involves working across DEV, QA, and PRE-PROD environments, supporting smoke, regression, integration, and end-to-end testing. You will help identify test coverage gaps, improve test stability, investigate failures, and support effective test data and environment usage.

You will collaborate closely with developers, product owners, QA engineers, and other stakeholders to understand requirements, clarify acceptance criteria, identify testing risks, and align automation activities with delivery goals.

You are a capable Test Automation Engineer with practical experience in software testing and automation. You can work independently on defined tasks, contribute to framework improvements, and collaborate effectively within an Agile team.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Develop, maintain, and execute automated UI tests using Playwright
  • Develop, maintain, and execute API automation tests using Java and tools such as REST Assured
  • Create automated tests for functional, regression, integration, API, web service, and end-to-end scenarios.
  • Contribute to automation frameworks, reusable components, utilities, coding standards, and documentation.
  • Support smoke and regression test execution in Google Cloud Build pipelines.
  • Analyze automated test results, investigate failures, and identify root causes.
  • Report and track defects clearly using tools such as Jira/Xray
  • Support API contract and integration testing, including validation against OpenAPI-based contracts and GraphQL schemas.
  • Prepare, maintain, and troubleshoot test data and environment-related issues.
  • Improve test stability, maintainability, execution speed, and reliability.
  • Participate in code reviews, test reviews, and technical discussions.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to improve automation coverage and support delivery objectives.

Preferred Skills

  • Strong experience with Playwright using JavaScript or TypeScript.
  • Experience with Java, Spring Boot, JUnit 5, Mockito, and REST Assured
  • Experience with Google Cloud Build, Xray/Jira, Allure, or similar tools.
  • Familiarity with OpenAPI, API contract testing, or PactFlow
  • Experience with Testcontainers, Postgres, mocked downstream services, or basic SQL.
  • Experience with React application testing, Jest, or React Testing Library
  • Familiarity with Google Cloud, SonarQube, Crunch42, FOSSA, or similar quality/security tools.
  • Understanding of test data management, data privacy, security regulations, or regulated environments.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3–5 years of relevant experience in software testing or test automation.
  • Proven hands-on experience developing and maintaining automated tests.
  • Practical understanding of testing methodologies, automation best practices, CI/CD integration, and the software development lifecycle.
