REPORTS TO: Supervisor, Software Quality Assurance

PURPOSE OF POSITION:
As a member of the Quality Assurance team, this position will lead the development and maintenance of test automation frameworks and scripts for Guidewire and other enterprise applications. This position involves designing, developing, and executing automated tests to ensure application functionality and quality. This position also includes mentoring team members, integrating automated tests into the CI/CD pipeline, and continuously improving testing processes.
KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS:
• Design, implement, and maintain robust automation frameworks for Guidewire applications and enterprise applications to ensure efficient and reliable testing processes.
• Integrate automated tests into the CI/CD pipeline to ensure continuous quality and rapid delivery of releases, projects and software updates.
• Design, develop, implement and maintain automated test scripts.
• Execute automated test scripts, analyze test results, and report defects.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to test automation.
• Create and manage test data to support various testing scenarios and ensure data integrity.
• Conduct regression testing to ensure new changes do not adversely affect existing automation scripts.
• Validate data flows between systems and ensure accurate data mapping and transformation.
• Estimate, plan and strategize work allocation and resource management for QA automation body of work
• Read and understand business requirement documents and determine the best way to create automated test coverage.
• Generate detailed reports, metrics, and documentation to communicate test results and quality status to stakeholders.
• Evaluate and integrate new testing tools and technologies to enhance the automation capabilities and efficiency as needed.
• Develop and drive the adoption of best practices and standards for test automation, ensuring scalability, reliability, and maintainability of automation suites.
• Work with Supervisor, Quality Assurance and Manager, Process and Business Analysis to define and implement the overall automation strategy.
• Mentor and guide junior automation engineers.
• Conduct code reviews for automated test scripts to ensure quality, maintainability, and adherence to coding standards.
• Provide training sessions and knowledge-sharing workshops to team members on automation tools, techniques, and Guidewire-specific testing practices.
• Collaborate with business analyst, development and QA teams to understand integration requirements and ensure comprehensive test coverage.
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure quality throughout the development lifecycle.
• Stay current with industry trends and advancements in test automation technologies, continuously enhancing our automation capabilities.
• Embrace change and demonstrate commitment to simplification and continuous improvement.

QUALIFICATION AND SKILLS:

• Minimum of 5 years experience in software test automation, with at least 2 years of focus on Guidewire Centres required;
• College or University degree in Computer Science or a related discipline required;
• Certified Software Test Professional (CSTP), International Software Testing Qualification Board (ISTQB), or Certified Software Testing Engineer (CSTE) certification are considered an asset.
• Experience with implementing test automation design and development in Agile environment.
• Experience with Guidewire test automation framework is considered an asset.
• Knowledge of insurance domain and Guidewire InsuranceSuite.
• Strong understanding of software development and QA methodologies.
• Experience in Jira, Rally, SharePoint, and Teams is considered an asset.
• Knowledge working in Guidewire application.
• Strong hands-on background on Automation, API, Cucumber, BDD, CI/CD, Gherkin language, Selenium, Karate and Test Café.
• Familiarity with Guidewire applications and test automation frameworks (GT UI and GT API) is considered an asset.
• Technical experience with design, development, and enhancements of automation frameworks that are covering different technology and application platforms.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Python, or JavaScript.
• Experience with test automation tools like Selenium, JUnit, TestNG, or similar.
• Solid understanding of CI/CD tools such as Bitbucket or Azure DevOps.
• Knowledge of SQL and database testing.
• Experience with API Automation Testing using XML/JSON, SOAP API, REST API, Java and API framework development and enhancements.
• Experience with version control systems like Git.
• Experience with API testing and tools such as Postman or SoapUI.
