In this role, you'll:

  • Be accountable for providing engineering technical advice & reporting to Territory staff relating to safety and reliability of the operational rail network.
  • Maintain accurate electronic databases and records on all inspections associated with the annual Track Examination System
  • Produce timely & accurate monthly reports, undertaking analysis as required identifying trends and non-compliance
  • Provide information to assist in the preparation of numerous critical program documents
  • Assist in the preparation of audits and in conducting technical field quality audits
  • Provide field supervision of minor works within the rail corridor
  • Ensure compliance with relevant standards and assist with short & long term planning activities

This is a permanent full-time position based out of the Hornsby Network Base.

The role has a typical roster, but will require some flexibility to work overtime or on weekends occasionally to meet business requirements.

About you

  • Engineering Degree, trade, certificate or diploma in a relevant discipline or equivalent practical track maintenance experience within an operational engineering or heavy maintenance environment
  • Experience in track maintenance activities or able to demonstrate a high level of understanding of maintenance principals
  • Analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to analyse and interpret complex data/information
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to represent the business positively and engage confidently stakeholders of all levels
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Word, with the ability to develop complex documents, spreadsheets and reporting tools
  • Hold a current NSW Class C drivers licence and be comfortable driving a 4WD/UTE type of vehicle.
